D23 On the Road: A Goofy Movie Throwback Premiere: On Thursday, August 28, we’re headed back to 1995 with A Goofy MovieThrowback Premiere, the finale of our D23 On the Road series, taking place at AMC Disney Springs in Orlando, Florida—the very same theater the film premiered at 30 years earlier! Get ready to relive the film’s most iconic moments and songs—D23 style! Enjoy a red carpet walk-through experience before the show and watch out for a few surprise guests! D23 Kuzcotopia Night at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon: Booyah! Celebrate ‘Ohana—and So Much More—with Disney twenty-three
The Summer 2025 issue of Disney twenty-three, available digitally May 20, surfs into this month’s live-action reimagining of Lilo & Stitch in a major way... not only does the back cover highlight everyone’s favorite blue alien, Stitch, but the issue itself features a behind-the-scenes peek at the film and interviews with director Dean Fleischer Camp and stars Maia Kealoha (Lilo) and Sydney Elizebeth Agudong (Nani).

With the 30th anniversary of Disney and Pixar’s Toy Story this year, Disney twenty-three is also honoring Pixar Animation Studios’ three decades of feature filmmaking with a special, one-of-a-kind edition—this issue’s three collectible front covers feature characters from the Toy Story films; fan-favorite Roz from Monsters, Inc. Disney Announces Plans for New Theme Park and Resort with Miral in Abu Dhabi

“As our seventh theme park destination, it will rise from this land in spectacular fashion, blending contemporary architecture with cutting-edge technology to offer guests deeply immersive entertainment experiences in unique and modern ways.” —Bob Iger

The Walt Disney Company and Miral, Abu Dhabi’s leading creator of immersive destinations and experiences, announced an agreement Wednesday to create a landmark Disney theme park resort in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The waterfront resort will be located on Yas Island, a world-class destination for entertainment and leisure, connecting travelers from the Middle East and Africa, India, Asia, Europe, and beyond. This seventh Disney theme park resort will combine Disney’s iconic stories, characters and attractions with Abu Dhabi’s vibrant culture, stunning shorelines, and breathtaking architecture.

“Abu Dhabi is a place where heritage meets innovation, where we preserve our past while designing the future,” His Excellency Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman at Miral, said. “The collaboration between Abu Dhabi and Disney demonstrates the remarkable results of combining visionary leadership and creative excellence. What we are creating with Disney in Abu Dhabi is a whole new world of imagination—an experience that will inspire generations across the region and the world, creating magical moments and memories that families will treasure forever. Through the development of unique attractions and experiences, Abu Dhabi continues to be a destination of choice for the world.”

The new resort will be fully developed and built by Miral. Disney and its legendary Imagineers will lead creative design and operational oversight to provide a world-class experience. Miral, which has developed a number of family entertainment destinations on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, in collaboration with American and European brands, will operate the resort.

The UAE is located within a four-hour flight of one-third of the world's population, making it a significant gateway for tourism. The UAE is home to the largest global airline hub in the world, with 120 million passengers traveling through Abu Dhabi and Dubai each year.

Descendants: Wicked Wonderland Is Officially Bringing Back Cinderella and the Queen of Hearts

The next chapter of the Descendants franchise includes two fan-favorite characters.

Today, Disney Branded Television announced that Brandy and Rita Ora will reprise their roles as Cinderella and the Queen of Hearts, respectively, in the fifth installment of the smash hit Descendants franchise — now officially titled Descendants: Wicked Wonderland.

Also returning are Paolo Montalban as King Charming and Melanie Paxson as Fairy Godmother, making Paxson the only actor to appear in all five Descendants films. Descendants: Wicked Wonderland is currently in production and will release in 2026 on Disney Channel and Disney+.

The now complete cast of Descendants: Wicked Wonderland includes Kylie Cantrall as Red, the Queen of Hearts' daughter; Malia Baker as Chloe, Cinderella's daughter; Liamani Segura as Pink, Red's sister; Brendon Tremblay as Max, Maddox Hatter's son; Alexandro Byrd as Luis, Luisa Madrigal's son; Kiara Romero as Hazel Hook, Captain Hook's daughter; Joel Oulette as Robbie, Robin Hood's son; Zavien Garret as Felix, Dr. Facilier's son; Ryan McEwen and Dayton Paradis as Squirmy and Squeaky, the Smee Twins; Leonardo Nam as Maddox, the Mad Hatter's son; Paxson as Fairy Godmother; Montalban as King Charming; Brandy as Cinderella; and Ora as the Queen of Hearts.

Descendants: Wicked Wonderland will explore what "happily ever after" really means for Red and Chloe following their time-traveling adventures in the 2024 movie Descendants: The Rise of Red. Set primarily in present-day Wonderland with a host of new and familiar characters, the upcoming Disney Channel Original Movie sequel will delve into the warning at the end of the previous movie: There are consequences when you alter the fabric of time.

Kimmy Gatewood directs Descendants: Wicked Wonderland from a script by co-executive producer Tamara Chestna and Dan Frey and Ru Sommer. Returning to the franchise are executive producers Suzanne Todd and Gary Marsh. Gatewood also serves as co-producer. Emmy® Award-winning choreographer Emilio Dosal is bringing the music-and-dance sequences — a hallmark of the Descendants franchise — to life.

In addition to Descendants: The Rise of Red, the first three Descendants films; the animated spinoff series Descendants: Wicked World; the animated special Descendants: The Royal Wedding; and three Descendants-inspired music videos are currently streaming on Disney+.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of Descendants, which debuted on Disney Channel in July 2015. Watch “The Place to Be,” the First Music Video from Disney’s ZOMBIES 4: Dawn of the Vampires

Today, Disney released "The Place to Be," the first single and music video from the highly anticipated Disney Channel Original Movie ZOMBIES 4: Dawn of the Vampires. The music video is now streaming on DisneyMusicVevo and Disney Channel Music YouTube, and the single is also available on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, and other digital platforms.

ZOMBIES 4: Dawn of the Vampires — the latest installment of the music-fueled ZOMBIES franchise — premieres Thursday, July 10, at 7 p.m. ET/PT on Disney Channel and streams the next day, Friday, July 11, on Disney+.

"The Place to Be" is performed by ensemble cast members Milo Manheim, Meg Donnelly, Freya Skye, Malachi Barton, Swayam Bhatia, Julian Lerner, and Mekonnen Knife and features choreography by Dondraico Johnson. The upbeat pop anthem introduces Nova (Skye) and the Daywalkers and Victor (Barton) and the Vampires — two rival monster factions from the neighboring towns of Sunnyside and Shadyside. Marvel Studios’ Thunderbolts* Director Jake Schreier on Creating the Team Up of the Summer

Marvel Studios assembles an unconventional team of antiheroes — Yelena Belova, Bucky Barnes, Red Guardian, Ghost, Taskmaster, and John Walker — in Thunderbolts*, playing exclusively in movie theaters beginning today. The action-adventure is directed by Emmy® Award winner Jake Schreier and produced by Kevin Feige, the president of Marvel Studios.

Kicking off the summer box office season, the film stars Florence Pugh, Sebastian Stan, Wyatt Russell, Olga Kurylenko, Lewis Pullman, Geraldine Viswanathan, Chris Bauer, and Wendell Pierce, with David Harbour, Hannah John-Kamen, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus.

In a Q&A, Schreier reveals what sets the Thunderbolts* team apart in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), shares the benefits of working in the Marvel Studios ecosystem, reveals why Pugh's character is the beating heart of the film — and much more.

What intrigued you most about directing an MCU film — and why Thunderbolts*?

I'm friends with Jon Watts [director of Spider-Man: Homecoming, Spider-Man: Far From Home, and Spider-Man: No Way Home] — who was my roommate in college — so I got an inside look at what it is to work in this world and to see what he pulled off.

Especially with this group of characters... because they're not as familiar, there's an opportunity there; there's a little bit more freedom and a little less expectation. There is room to take [the story] in different places and do some different things with it.

The MCU is one of the strongest brands in entertainment. How did that help guide you as you were making Thunderbolts*?

The main thing is just Kevin guiding [us]. He's so good at this... When you have a [studio] that has been so successful for so long, to still try new things and push things forward, there's so much freedom in that encouragement. Kevin and [executive producer Louis D'Esposito] earned that. That trust really protects you. When you're working with them, and you're collaborating, there's room to take chances and go places that seem interesting.

What differentiates the Thunderbolts* in the MCU, and how do the events of this film support storytelling in future films?

I think they're sort of your least anticipated group of Marvel heroes [laughs]. But in that way, they're like us. There's something that everyone can relate to in all of these characters. They're people who have found themselves in a place they didn't expect to be, or maybe things didn't work out for them quite in the way that they thought. I think anyone can relate, certainly. Then, the question is: What do you do from there? Where do you go? Do you retreat into yourself, or do you find connection in others and move forward through that?

How were you able to successfully balance the storylines of so many disparate characters into a cohesive, compelling narrative that also fits into the larger MCU?

 It really starts with this incredible group of actors and how much they care not only about their work, but also about the characters that they've built and have come to care about and feel protective of. We obviously tried to build that into the script, but [it also came through] conversations with the actors when they showed up in early rehearsals talking about what felt honest to their characters, what they felt like could be adjusted, and what they could bring of themselves and their interpretation to make [things] feel more earned.

In your opinion, what makes someone a hero? Considering all the bad things they've done over the years, would any of the Thunderbolts even classify themselves as heroes?

It's interesting. Other than Alexi [Harbour] — who is so invested in this meta idea of heroism, of being appreciated, and of the glory side of it — we didn't talk so much about heroes and villains in this movie. We really tried to treat it more on a character level. It's about being in a place and how you get out of it; in this world it's really about saving yourself and saving each other. Yes, they're saving the world. But it starts from an internal place, and that felt like a really rich thing to explore with actors of this caliber who can really bring that to life.

Each of these characters is coming into this film battling their own personal demons. How do their complex emotions color the story amid all the action and adventure?

When we're stuck in our own thought loops and reflecting on our shame, there's often a tendency to feel like we're alone in that place, that no one else can understand it. While they all have their individual traumas and their different perspectives on how they feel, if they open themselves up to that connection, they [begin] see that there are others who can understand them, even if they haven't gone through another's specific experience.

Look, we want to have a lot of fun in this movie. There's a ton of action. We're in IMAX®, we're blowing things up, cranes are falling, limos are exploding — but you never want that stuff to get ahead of where the characters are along the story. You want to feel like that action is coming from a story perspective and it's all working together to build a narrative.

The Houghton Brothers Celebrate 100 Episodes of Big City Greens

In the landmark 100th episode of Disney Branded Television’s Big City Greens, the Green family is determined to make their 100th adventure their best — whether that means unleashing monstrous chickens, venturing into the afterlife, or delivering a mysterious box.

Created and executive produced by brothers Chris and Shane Houghton, the Emmy® Award-nominated animated series premiered on Disney Channel in June 2018. The comedy-adventure follows the offbeat adventures of 10-year-old Cricket Green (voiced by Chris Houghton), a mischievous and optimistic country boy who moves to the big city with his wildly out-of-place family: older sister Tilly Green (voiced by Marieve Herington), father Bill Green (voiced by Bob Joles), and Gramma Alice (voiced by Artemis Pebdani). The series is heavily influenced by the Houghton brothers’ youth in rural St. Johns, Michigan.

Over the years, Big City Greens has borne fruit across The Walt Disney Company, with the Green family appearing in interstitials for Disney Channel and Disney+, as well as in Disney Branded Television’s short-form series Broken Karaoke, Chibi Tiny Tales, and How NOT to Draw. In 2023, Big City Greens collaborated with ESPN for the NHL Big City Greens Classic — a live, animated NHL game telecast, powered by volumetric and motion capture technologies. And, in 2024, the Big City Greens franchise expanded with its first feature-length film, Big City Greens the Movie: Spacecation.

Before the 100th episode debuts May 3 on Disney Channel and May 7 on Disney+, the Houghton brothers — who entered into an overall deal with Disney Branded Television in 2024 — reflect on Big City Greens‘ impact and the surprising opportunities it’s given them.

In Big City Greens' 100th episode, Gloria, Tilly, Gramma Alice, Bill, and Cricket realize they are "on the precipice of a major milestone event" — their 100th adventure.

Without spoiling anything, what is the 100th episode about?

Chris: There was a lot of pressure to come up with a new, exciting, very big story for the 100th adventure. We were banging our heads against the wall, thinking, “What could we do? And what haven’t we done?” And it was Shane who actually came up with the story.

Shane: We’ve covered so much in 100 episodes of Big City Greens that we knew we had to go bigger, better, crazier than we’d ever gone before. So… we did that! I don’t want to give too much away, [but it has all the things] audiences have come to love about Big City Greens. It’s super funny, full of heart and emotion. It’s a celebration and a look back at all 99 episodes that came before it. I’m very proud of it — very happy with how it turned out.

Chris: We hope our fans love it. And [Disney Legend] Mark Hamill guest stars in it!

The success of Big City Greens led to a feature film, several shorts and specials, and even an alternate sportscast. What unexpected opportunities has the show given you?

Chris: When we came to Disney, it felt like this was our chance to really make Big City Greens as a project as big as it could possibly be. We were making the TV series, but then when opportunities came to do some shorts, or to do ancillary projects like the NHL partnership, we jumped at every one of them. The fun part of this job, of being at Disney, is getting opportunities to grow well beyond a TV series.

Shane: What I love is that everybody who works on the show brings something different to it — a different perspective, a different idea. We, as the showrunners, then get to look at all of those great ideas, like a menu of options, and say, “Oh, that’s great. That’s great.” And that has led to a lot of really fun and interesting episodes or opportunities. We did our Christmas special in CG animation using Epic’s video game engine, Unreal. It was so unique and so different from anything we’ve ever done. We were able to make a movie, which was a dream come true. That was something we had wanted to do ever since we came to Hollywood, and it was cool that we got to do it with people from the series. I couldn’t be prouder of our crew and the people who make the show with us at Disney TV Animation.

Chris: It’s so much bigger than just us. We have the honor to lead this massive team, and, as Shane said, pick and choose which great idea we’re going to go with next. That collaboration is so fun. Animation is a team sport. It’s great to go in every day and try to make stuff that’s funny and entertaining, that people might still want to watch in 30 years.

How have you evolved creatively since Big City Greens premiered seven years ago?

Shane: This is the longest job I’ve ever had, and it’s cool to look back at how much we’ve grown as people. We’ve been in production for nine years, and a lot of our crew members have been with us since Season 1 of the show. We aren’t the spring chickens we used to be, but it’s cool. We’ve cultivated this crew that we’re really proud of. We’ve told stories that we’re very proud of, and I think we’re doing a lot more. So, to the fans: thanks for watching!

Chris: We couldn’t have done it without you. It’s an honor to have this job. It’s so fun to come in each week and think of crazy stuff for Cricket and Tilly to do.

Powerline’s “I2I” Performance from Disney’s A Goofy Movie Comes to Life Like Never Before with Immersive VR Experience

To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the animated classic A Goofy Movie, Disney has released an all-new virtual reality version of the film's iconic concert scene, featuring the hit song "I2I" from the fictional pop superstar, Powerline. Utilizing innovative digital technology combined with the timeless artistry of classic animation, the VR concert gives fans the chance to fully experience the thrill of a Powerline performance like never before, as if they were on stage in front of the sold-out audience.

Thirty years after its theatrical release, A Goofy Movie has become a cultural phenomenon, solidifying its place within Disney's unparalleled storytelling legacy and influencing an entire generation of fans around the world. This immersive concert experience was carefully crafted to evoke the same heartwarming humor, emotional depth, and visual charm that fans have cherished for decades, while also providing a modern, interactive way for viewers to engage with the beloved film.

The video showcases the iconic climactic scene from the film where Goofy and his son, Max, find themselves backstage at a concert featuring Powerline, voiced by celebrated entertainer and Grammy-nominated R&B artist Tevin Campbell. However, instead of following the off-stage antics of Goofy and Max throughout the concert arena, viewers can watch Powerline's performance of "I2I" in its entirety, with the moments from the chaotic scene playing out in various places within the immersive VR experience before the stars join on stage to close out the number.

Since the film's 1995 release, "I2I" has remained an enduring anthem of the era to fans around the world. "I am just truly grateful and extremely blessed to be the voice of Powerline," Campbell said. "When you're a kid you never think about 30 years down the line. It's really great to be a part of something that's a part of people's childhood."
