Mission to Mars Updated Flight to the Moon attraction in Tomorrowland at Disneyland; opened March 21, 1975, and closed November 2, 1992. Also Tomorrowland attraction in Magic Kingdom Park at Walt Disney World; opened June 7, 1975 and closed October 4, 1993. After man set foot on the moon, the Flight to the Moon attraction was passé. Disney designers changed the destination to Mars several years later, and for a few months even utilized some film clips from the Disney television show, Mars and Beyond, showing fantastic creatures that one might encounter on the red planet. The preflight show was fashioned after Mission Control, utilizing Audio-Animatronics figures.
