Maelstrom Boat ride attraction in Norway in World Showcase at Epcot; opened on July 5, 1988, and closed on October 5, 2014. Guests take a short ride through scenes from Norwegian history while being menaced by trolls. A unique element of the journey is when the boats plummet backwards down some rapids and narrowly miss going over a waterfall. The boat trip ends at a theater where guests see a short film about Norwegian scenery. It was replaced by Frozen Ever After.
