GO Network Internet portal site created by Disney and Infoseek; launched on January 12, 1999. The network offered such services as news, stock quotes, chat rooms, search engines, email, and weather, with the ability to personalize certain areas. On November 17, 1999, Disney stockholders approved a spinoff of GO.com and the purchase of Infoseek with that company merging with Disney’s Buena Vista Internet Group as a separate Disney entity. The new GO.com’s shares began trading on the New York Stock Exchange the next day. This tracking stock in 2000 changed its name to Disney Internet Group. On March 1, 2001, the company converted the stock to Disney Common Stock and closed the GO.com portal business.
