Garity, William (1899-1971) After helping record the sound for Steamboat Willie, sound engineer Bill Garity joined the Disney Studio the next year, where he helped Walt Disney make his cartoons the most technically advanced in the industry. Bill’s team created the multiplane camera and invented Fantasound for Fantasia, while supervising the construction of the new Disney Studio in Burbank. He left Disney in 1942. Bill was named a Disney Legend posthumously in 1999.
