Barney Gorman, a Philadelphia garbage man, finds that his kicking abilities get him a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be a placekicker for the Philadelphia Eagles. After a grueling training period, he wins a game for the Eagles with his first professional kick. But, eventually, he finds that happiness can still come from his old garbage route.
