EPCOT Center: The Opening Celebration (television) Television show; aired on October 23, 1982. Directed by Dwight Hemion. Rainy weather fails to dampen the enthusiasm as EPCOT Center is opened. Danny Kaye is the host, looking at the history of the project from Walt’s first announcement through construction. Celebrity guests help Kaye look around the park and visit several of the attractions. With Drew Barrymore, Roy Clark, Marie Osmond, Eric Severeid, the West Point Glee Club. For the opening, Disney put together the All-American Marching Band, consisting of top school musicians from all over the country.
