Davy Crockett’s Explorer Canoes Critter Country attraction at Disneyland; opened on May 19, 1971. Formerly Indian War Canoes in Frontierland; the loading dock has had to be moved several times as progress changed the layout along the Rivers of America. The only Disneyland attraction where guests have to work–their paddling is the only means of locomotion of the 35-foot-long canoes, as they circle Tom Sawyer Island. Also a Frontierland attraction in Magic Kingdom Park at Walt Disney World, opened October 1, 1971, and closed in 1993.
