This week, a special celebration of Cretaceous proportions is coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Donald Duck is kicking off a Dino-Bash—and we wanted to have our own Dino-mite celebration to join in the fun. We’ve rounded up all the ways you can encounter dinos big, small, and sometimes skeletal, at Disney parks all around the globe.
Donald’s Dino-Bash!
What would you do if you found out you were related to dinosaurs? When Donald learns that birds’ ancestors were dinosaurs, he decides to throw a celebration for the ages at Disney’s Animal Kingdom’s DinoLand, U.S.A. Starting May 25, join Donald and friends like Daisy, Goofy, Pluto and Launchpad McQuack—and even Chip ’n’ Dale in their all-new dino-inspired outfits!
Primeval World Diorama on the Santa Fe and Disneyland Railroad
This diorama on the Disneyland Railroad invites guests to travel back in time to a misty swamp filled with prehistoric creatures, including a Tyrannosaurus Rex! Using elements from the Ford Magic Skyway at the 1964-1965 New York World’s Fair, this iconic display of primeval pizazz is also featured on the Western River Railroad at Tokyo Disneyland.
DINOSAUR
It’s a race in time to rescue an Iguanodon before the meteor that wiped out the dinosaurs strikes, and you are in charge of the mission! Inside the halls of The Dino Institute, you are on a mission to rescue an Iguanodon and bring him back to the present, but you might meet some other dinosaurs along the way—like the fearsome Carnotaurus! In your sturdy Time Rover, it’s a race against the countdown to extinction.
Rex and Trixie’s Dino Darts on Toy Story Midway Mania
These dinos are a little friendlier… in fact, they want you to join in their game! As you play through the games in Toy Story Midway Mania, you get the chance to throw darts at targets in a primeval world filled with volcanoes erupting with lava balloons. Join your favorite toy dinos, Rex and Trixie, in this challenge that takes you back in time!
Dinosaur Gertie’s Ice Cream of Extinction
This chilly cool blast from the fast provides tasty treats while honoring an animation icon: Gertie the Dinosaur was one of the first animated film characters, animated by Winsor McCay in the early years of the 20th century. Stop by this shop at Disney Hollywood Studios’ Echo Lake to both enjoy a sweet treat and honor a film milestone.
Dinosaur Bones All over The World
If you’ve ever been on Disneyland, Magic Kingdom, or Tokyo Disneyland’s Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, you’ve had a chance to ride all over the wilderness—including under the bones of a dinosaur! For those of you who’ve had a chance to say “bonjour!” to Big Thunder Mesa at Disneyland Paris, you may have also had the chance to spot similar dinosaur bones at nearby Phantom Manor.
Over at Tokyo DisneySea, you might have to look a little harder to find a skeletal friend, but if you know where to explore at the American Waterfront, you might just spot a certain triceratops.
The Electrical Water Pageant Brachiosaurus
At Disney parks, you can see dinosaurs that fight, dinosaurs that play games, and even dinosaurs that glow! On Bay Lake and the Seven Seas Lagoon at Walt Disney World, park guests can enjoy the nighttime wonders of the Electrical Water Pageant! Featuring a 1,000-foot-long string of floating structures covered with tiny lights, this nightly procession presents a whole array of glittering creatures—including an illuminated brachiosaurus!
