Back in 2001, long before Hannah Montana hit the small screen, Disney Channel premiered a new series aimed at teens and tweens, Lizzie McGuire, and it became a smash hit. The half-hour series featured Hilary Duff in the title role, along with her animated alter ego. The series spawned a feature film, aptly titled The Lizzie McGuire Movie, in which Lizzie and her pals take a class trip to Italy. Adventure, romance, and even mistaken identities all play a part in the story which was filmed on location in Rome. It all works out in the end when in the movie world Lizzie finds the true meaning of friendship, and in the real world Hilary becomes a top-selling recording artist for Disney’s Hollywood Records.
