“Oh there’s no-o-o place, like World Show-ow-owcase on the face of the whole wide world!” These lyrics are from the Sherman Brothers song, initially written for the grand opening of Epcot, which was also the debut of World Showcase, where various countries are represented through dining and shopping experiences, attractions and authentic entertainment. Talent booker Sonny Anderson personally travelled the world to find great talent from each of the countries represented in World Showcase. The Morocco pavilion was the first country added since the opening of Epcot and featured a realistic Koutoubia Minaret as its landmark. Guests enjoy traditional belly dancers, intricate Moroccan architecture, and swirling mosaics made by native craftsmen in the pavilion’s two sections, the Ville Nouvelle (new city) and the Medina (old city), along with the Gallery of Arts and History museum and the Fez House, an example of a typical Moroccan dwelling. Morocco certainly fit right in, staying true to those original lyrics of the “World Showcase March.” “Here you see all nationalities as proudly they display their great creations. All aglow, each country’s come to show its history, achievements, aspirations.” Indeed, there is no place like World Showcase on the face of the whole wide world.
