Star Wars fans, get ready for a lightspeed jump to The High Republic Era that’s set in a galaxy far, far, far away with the upcoming Disney+ series, The Acolyte. It is a time when the Republic is at peace and ruled by just and wise leaders, and it’s the peak of Jedi influence. The High Republic covers several centuries before the events of The Phantom Menace.
This period showcases the Jedi as peacekeepers from the heart of the galaxy to the frontier that reached as far as the Outer Rim.During this time, the galaxy is not without its perils—despite the belief that the Sith were long extinct. The books in this era showcase the Jedi at their best, defending the galaxy against threats like marauding pirates called the Nihil, and ravenous plant-like creatures known as the Drengir.
Exclusively streaming on Disney+, The Acolyte premieres on June 4—and it’s all set against the vibrant backdrop of the High Republic, but deals with the threat of a different kind of darkness in this era.
