Stars Shine at the Premiere of Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur

By Andie Hagemann

On Saturday, the stars and creative team behind Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur brought the “Moon Girl Magic” to the red carpet for the series’ premiere event at The Walt Disney Studios Lot in Burbank, California.

Based on Marvel’s hit comic books, Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur follows the adventures of super genius Lunella Lafayette (voiced by Diamond White) and her 10-ton T-Rex, Devil Dinosaur (voiced by Fred Tatasciore), whom she accidentally brings into present day New York City through a portal. Bolstered by Devil Dinosaur’s fierce loyalty and brawn along with the loving support of her family and best friend, Casey (voiced by Libe Barer), Lunella sets out to make a difference and protect her Lower East Side neighborhood from wily villains.

“We wanted to make a love letter to New York, as well as highlight the importance of family and the community,” supervising producer Rodney Clouden told D23 on the red carpet. Executive producer Steve Loter added, “It’s really important to put out the message that one girl can make a difference, and I think we’re doing it in a really stylized, fun, exciting, and musical way.”

Shared producer Pilar Flynn, “What I love about this [series] is it gives the message that women can be more than just one thing. We can be super smart, we can love science, we can love dinosaurs, and be superheroes. The fact that these two little girls support one another and elevate one another is something we really need to see more of.”

Stars White, Tatasciore, Barer, Gary Anthony Williams, Ian Alexander, Josh Keaton, and Tajinae Turner joined executive producer (and the voice of The Beyonder) Laurence Fishburne, Loter, Clouden, Flynn, executive music producer Raphael Saadiq, and co-creators Amy Reeder and Natacha Bustos for a roaring night celebrating the groundbreaking series.

“[Voicing Lunella] brings me back to my childhood,” White said. “The series is something that I really needed to see when I was growing up. She’s a Black girl [saving the world]. We don’t see that a lot.”

Added actress Monique Coleman, “The fact that this is the first-ever Black teen Super Hero [is so exciting]. Growing up I didn’t have role models like that [on TV]. I believe when we see it on screen, we believe that it’s possible for ourselves, so I think this is going to be transformational for this generation.”

In addition to voicing Lunella, White also performs the series’ theme song, “Moon Girl Magic.” Both White and Saadiq teased that audiences will hear Lunella sing more throughout the “very musical” series. “Diamond is very talented, and I can’t wait to show off her voice,” Saadiq said. Saadiq added that his goal for scoring the series was to not only introduce music to kids, but also create something that parents can enjoy, too. “We didn’t want to dumb it down for kids,” Saadiq said. “We wanted to give them as much music and as much depth as we could.” On the red carpet, Loter gushed that the immensely talented Saadiq is one of the “beating hearts of the show,” composing many different genres and styles for scenes upon only reading the script and bringing to life a character in a unique way.

After the red carpet, attendees watched the first episode, “Moon Girl Landing,” before joining in a fun-filled reception with roller skating, crafts, mouthwatering bites, and more! Catch more of Lunella’s adventures when Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur premieres Friday, February 10, at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Disney Channel, and Wednesday, February 15, on Disney+.

Behind-the-Scenes Details Revealed by Cast of Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur

By Jessica Benda

Speeding through the streets of New York City’s Lower East Side, a 13-year-old super-genius and a fire-engine red T-Rex have no shortage of energy—and the same can be said for their new Disney Branded Television series.

Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur debuts on Friday, February 10, on Disney Channel and Wednesday, February 15 on Disney+. The story kicks off when Lunella Lafayette (aka Moon Girl, voiced by Diamond White) accidentally brings Devil Dinosaur (voiced by Fred Tatasciore) into modern-day New York, where they join forces as the city’s newest heroic duo. With a mischievous entity called The Beyonder (voiced by executive producer Laurence Fishburne), a bright best friend named Casey (voiced by Libe Barer), and eccentric villains, Lunella has her hands full for the season.

Excitement for its premiere brimmed at a recent virtual press conference, featuring White, Tatasciore, Fishburne, Barer, Gary Anthony Williams (Pops), and Emmy® Award-winner Steve Loter, who executive produces alongside Fishburne.

With eyes closed, Casey and Lunella grin as they both stick out their right foot and point their fingers at each other, hands above their heads. Lunella wears a pink top and sneakers, blue jeans, and purple glasses. Casey wears a teal romper, black boots, and hoop earrings.

On celebrating intelligence:
“It doesn’t matter what your gender, what your color, what your faith, what country you live in. I’ve always thought that it was really, really cool to be smart,” Fishburne said. “I think it’s just important for us to have this kind of representation because you can’t be what you can’t see. So if more young girls of color get to see an experience of a person like Lunella, then perhaps, they won’t be afraid to show their intelligence and to lead with their intelligence.”

“Also, why was smart ever not cool?” Barer added. “I think there’s a lot of really cool reclaiming and reestablishing what is cool in this show—like, one of the things for myself is I love that Casey speaks Spanish and is cool. I would have loved to see that as a little girl, and I love getting to bring that to life.”

On authentic representation:
“Well, definitely, I’ve experienced someone calling my hair frizzy or messy, and that’s why it was important for me to see the episode where Lunella gets her hair straightened, the perm episode,” White said. “That touched my soul in a place where it was like, yeah, I’ve been through this. Growing up Black, your hair really does become your enemy. So, it’s really cool to see that play out, and that’s something that I’ve never seen on television before.”

“We currently have an all-female writing room, a very diverse writing room,” Loter added. “So a lot of Lunella’s stories in this are based on real-life experiences that our writers have experienced and have put it through the lens of Lunella. Authenticity was primary.”

Moon Girl dances atop the colorful, vibrant ground as onlookers watch and cheer. In the back of the crowd, Devil Dinosaur watches with a toothy grin.

On capturing New York City through animation:
“I grew up in New York in the ’80s and ’90s,” Loter explained. “It was New York prior to gentrification, so I was there at the perfect time where creativity, imagination, and just music, art, poetry, and books were still very vibrant and alive in New York. I wanted to make sure that we could capture that in the show, because I’ve seen New York misrepresented in a lot of animated properties, so I had to make sure it was accurate. So we relied on a lot of New York artistic benchmarks—the Andy Warhol silk screening process, [Jean-Michel] Basquiat graffiti art, street art murals—to find the flavor of New York we wanted to capture.”

“We had a lot of conversations about backgrounds and about the environment, the color palette, and all of these textures,” Fishburne added. “It was all those things plus… we are people who really, really love animation, from the very beginning of our lives.”

Against a brilliant purple backdrop, Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur groove on a bright teal floor. Moon Girl is clad in pink, sporting roller skates and a big grin. Devil Dinosaur is an even brighter red than usual.

On the difficulty of voicing Devil Dinosaur:
“It’s a beautiful, artistic challenge because I feel like I’m showing up with this broken saxophone instrument,” Tatasciore said with a laugh. “We know the traditional sounds are what we think of dinosaurs of being [roars and snorts], and the scariness and the bigness, and he’s a force of nature. But then, we wanted to try to figure out what’s the language of his heart and articulation with Lunella? And so we had to really work together to find it without going the other direction.”

On Aftershock, the first villain of the season, and her deeper meaning:
“We really did want to encapsulate a lot about what the mission statement was of the series—the one-girl-makes-a-difference storyline,” Loter said. “So to have this character coming into the Lower East Side sapping it of its energy… it is a statement about gentrification. It’s a statement about losing community and neighborhood and connection. It was really important for Aftershock to be the conduit—no pun intended—for that kind of story.”

On a front porch, Moon Girl stands in the center of her family, clasping her hands together with a small smile. Her four family members gather around her, grinning with their eyes closed as they each hold an arm out.

On relating to the lively Lafayette family:
“I grew up in a huge family. I have six sisters, two brothers, mom and dad and then my grandmother was always there. My cousins were always there,” Williams recalled. “So to get to show that whole family unit, literally the way that I grew up, except for down south, to get to be a part of that and that heart and love that comes from my character, Pops—who’s Lunella’s granddad and also just a huge fan of Moon Girl, even though he doesn’t know it’s the same person—that means everything to me.”

Loter on subtle references throughout the series:
“You’ll see a couple of MCU characters in the show, but also you’ll see that some of the characters we have in there are really deep cuts in Marvel Comics,” Loter said. "We love doing that because we always find the right character to fit the right thematic element for that episode. There’s a lot of Easter eggs.”

The bulk of the frame is taken up by Devil Dinosaur’s snout, which Moon Girl sits atop. Dressed in her usual yellow helmet, she gives Devil Dinosaur a kiss on the forehead. A speech box appears over Devil’s snout with a red heart on it. The moon pokes out behind them.

White on the impact of Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur:
“We made history being Marvel’s first teenage Black girl Super Hero,” White said. “So it’s important to see that kind of representation. It’s a show that I needed growing up and I feel like it really does make a difference. Like the show says, one girl can make a difference.”

Five of Disney’s Best Hearts—and Five of Disney’s Most Villainous

By Jessica Benda

While all Disney films have heart, many take the expression literally. Hearts abound in Disney stories, whether they take the form of gorgeous jewelry, world-powering crystals, or the simple but vital organ beating away.

With Valentine’s Day approaching, amid the usual onslaught of heart-shaped everything, we went hunting for Disney’s best hearts. But while our heroes and heroines often favor hearts as symbols of romance or life, some villains also have a fondness for the shape. Or, in the Evil Queen’s case, the organ.

Upon inspection, we present five of Disney’s best hearts, and five of Disney’s most dastardly.

The animated Queen of Hearts screams with her arms in the air, clutching a scepter with a red heart at the top. A gold crown sits atop her head and she wears a red and black dress. Four cards of the heart suit stand behind her, gripping lances with red hearts. They’re gathered in front of tall hedges.

Queen of Hearts’ Scepter
We value our hearts and our heads, and if we didn’t honor the queen of them, we might lose both. In Alice in Wonderland, the Queen of Hearts brandishes a scepter topped with a classic red heart. And considering how much she waves her arms, we certainly see it in action. An honorary mention goes to the heart suits of the kingdom’s Playing Cards, who truly deserve to live under a democracy.

A close-up photo of Rose, played by Kate Winslet, wearing the Heart of the Ocean necklace. The heart-shaped, dark blue stone is attached to a silver chain around her neck. She looks slightly off-camera with a neutral expression. Her red hair is curled, half of it pulled back and away from her face.

Heart of the Ocean
Things we wish we could see at the bottom of the ocean: Ariel’s Grotto, Atlantis, a 56-carat blue diamond. The Heart of the Ocean, the stunning necklace Cal gives Rose aboard the Titanic in the 1997 film, was allegedly plucked from the crown of Louis XVI. Eighty-four years after the ship’s sinking, Rose tosses it into the Atlantic. Personally, we would have kept it.

A close-up photo of Regina Mills, whose black hair crops just above her shoulders. She wears a black jacket and top, looking just off-camera. Her hand is held close to her face, clutching a glowing red heart.

Once Upon a Time Hearts
Nothing says Valentine’s Day like ripping the heart from someone’s chest…at least if you’re Regina Mills in Season 1 of ABC’s Once Upon a Time. Regina spends a fair amount of time trying to stop Snow White’s heart before reforming her ways. The enchanting glow marks these as some of Disney’s best hearts, even if we’d prefer keeping them inside people’s bodies.

Under a dark, cloudy sky, Moana stands alone atop a rock. She has animated flowing dark hair and wears a red, strapless top and a tan, knee-length skirt. She raises her left arm sky-high, and the heart of Te Fiti shines within her hand. The heart glows green, glimmering brightly under the gloomy sky.

Heart of Te Fiti
In Moana, a hulking creature of molten lava skulks through the ocean’s volcanic rocks: Te Kā. But before Te Kācame Te Fiti, a gentle goddess of lush greenery and blossoms. When the demigod Maui stole her heart, she evolved into her villainous counterpart until Moana sailed across the ocean to return it. Throughout her journey, Moana keeps the glowing green ember tucked in her necklace (and like the Heart of the Ocean, it’s tossed into the sea at one point) before finally returning it to Te Fiti to restore the islands.

The animated Evil Queen holds a red box in front of her, with a gold heart impaled with a dagger on the front. In her dungeon, she shoots a menacing look straight ahead and wears a gold crown with purple robes and a black cape.

The Evil Queen’s Heart Box
The Evil Queen never gets Snow White’s heart, but she does have a stylish box to keep it in. Adorned with a gold heart with a tasteful blade cutting through it, its appearance in Disney’s first animated feature marks it as a classic. Fans of the 1937 film and the Evil Queen’s box will be thrilled to know that a replica can be had on shopDisney—but please don’t put any actual hearts in there.

In a huge cavern, we see the backs of four people standing on a rock, Kida and Milo among them. They look up at the Heart of Atlantis, which levitates up toward the cavern’s ceiling. The glowing blue crystal is surrounded by six oblong fragments with ancient faces carved upon them. The light floods into the cavern, but the bottom half of the frame is still dark.

Heart of Atlantis
True to its name, this ethereal crystal pumps life throughout its hidden city to sustain it across the centuries. In Atlantis: The Lost Empire, the lore of the heart is unearthed as Kida and Milo work to save the fading empire. When the levitating heart merges with a host, it’s charged with enough energy to protect Atlantis. Not only is the otherworldly force a true lifesaver, it’s also a testament to Disney’s ever-evolving animation.

In a thick green jungle, two pirates look startled. The two men each have a hand on a midsize chest hoisted into the air between them. The chest looks to be made of iron with intricate markings on the top and sides. The pirates wear loose-fitting clothing and have their free hands on the swords at their sides.

Davy Jones’ Heart
Every pirate wants to pocket the hidden heart of Davy Jones. Locked away in the titular Dead Man’s Chest in the second Pirates of the Caribbean movie, it’s said whoever owns it controls Davy Jones and therefore the behemoth of teeth called the Kraken. Crusted with barnacles and still beating, the waterlogged heart of Davy Jones warrants a spot as one of Disney’s best.

On a frozen lake in the mountains, five ice harvesters slam their ice picks into blocks of ice. They wear warm, woolen gray gear and thick hats, staring intensely at their respective blocks of ice. A yellow light peeks up behind the mountains, indicating that it is either dawn or dusk.

Frozen Heart
Deep within Arendelle’s mountains, the ice harvesters first chant this warning as they (rather violently) wrangle ice from the depths. In Frozen, their song comes true years later when Anna’s heart freezes after an accidental blast from Elsa’s powers. While we’re never supplied a visual of the heart à la Davy Jones, the effects are clear. Anna’s hair whitens as snowflakes spread from her fingertips to her nose, and she finally hardens to solid ice before she’s thawed by an act of true love.

The Bride’s Heart
As the Doom Buggies roamed the infamous attic, guests of the Haunted Mansion were once faced with the Beating Heart Bride. Clad in ghostly white, the Bride’s glowing heart shone beneath the fabric—though considering that she may have killed her husbands, we’re surprised she had one. Originally, she haunted the attics at Disneyland and Magic Kingdom, but she has since been replaced by a new variation: Constance Hatchaway. While unclear whether she’s the same character, it’s evident that the original Bride held one of the most iconic hearts among Disney attractions.

Kingdom Hearts
In the wildly popular video game series, Kingdom Hearts, players trek through a slew of Disney and Pixar worlds while attempting to stop an evil force called the Heartless. From Agrabah to Atlantica, players attempt to seal keyholes that prevent the hearts of the world from being consumed. The titular Kingdom Hearts is a source of all power and the culmination of all other hearts. Based off how many times we’ve written “hearts” in this blurb alone, it’s clear they’re unforgettable in this game.

All Our Favorite Easter Eggs on Pixar Pier

By Jessica Benda

For fans of the past 37 years of beloved Pixar films, there’s a place to visit where animation collides with reality: Pixar Pier.

Nestled deep within Disney’s California Adventure Park in Anaheim, California, Pixar Pier is a whirlwind of vibrant attractions and lively characters. From the comfortable whimsy of the Lamplight Lounge to the spun sugar of Bing Bong’s Sweet Stuff, the pier abounds with tributes to our favorite movies.

Pixar feaures are known for their Easter eggs—look for an “A113” hidden in every film to date, for example—so it’s no surprise that this corner of the park is an Easter egg hunter’s paradise. Even seasoned Magic Key holders might find something new to appreciate on each visit.

In celebration of today’s anniversary of Pixar’s founding, see whether you’ve caught these creative details before.

Lamplight Lounge’s Menu
Pixar enthusiasts will be quick to recognize a few names while perusing this entertaining menu. Overlooking the water or tucked indoors, guests sip themed drinks like “Goofball Island,” a nod to one of Riley’s personality islands in Inside Out. Fans of Monsters, Inc. won’t hesitate to recognize the frozen mocktail “2319” or its adult counterpart, a rum cocktail dubbed “Scream Canister.”

A view of Lamplight Lounge’s interior. A row of tables is pressed between a black banquette and a row of leather chairs. Pixar artwork and memorabilia, including the Finding Nemo film poster and the guitar from Coco, hang on the brick wall that the banquette leans against. Several desk-style lamps hang at the top.

Handwritten Notes
It’s hard to miss Lamplight Lounge’s paper-like chandeliers, but it’s slightly harder to read what’s on them. While most feature character sketches, guests who squint will find scribbled film quotes as well. These quotes continue in the hallway to the restrooms, handwritten by Pixar employees for a personal touch. Lamplight Lounge is the James P. Sullivan of Easter eggs, so it’s the perfect place on the pier to take a closer look.

Small Fry
Hunger is easily remedied by several snack stalls—all of which are cleverly themed. Even Pixar novices will likely know the films behind Adorable Snowman’s Frosted Treats (Monsters, Inc.) and Señor Buzz’s Churros (Toy Story 3), but one pier eatery has a more subtle inspiration. Poultry Palace, known for its seasoned chicken drumstick boxes, is seen in the 2011 short Small Fry.

In the second installment of the Toy Story Toons series, Bonnie and her family dine at a fast-food chicken restaurant called Poultry Palace. Chaos ensues as the kids’ meal toys, including a Mini Buzz Lightyear and a Mini Zurg, turn out to have minds of their own. If you have an especially quick eye, you might also have seen Poultry Palace briefly in Toy Story 4.

A view of the Incredibles-themed entrance just before Incredicoaster. The archway is Elastigirl stretching from one side to the other, with the rest of the Parr family painted on one side. The classic letter “I” logo sits atop the arch. In the background is the white rails of one of the coaster’s turns and the start of the queue.

The Smell of Cookies
Whether it’s the smell of sea breeze and fresh grass in Soarin’ Around the World or the sweet aromas of Main Street, U.S.A., the Disneyland Resort is steeped in iconic scents. Pixar Pier continues this trend with the Incredicoaster, a red pump of adrenaline across the Southern California skyline. If you weren’t too busy fighting for your life, you might have noticed the scent of chocolate chip cookies before plunging down one of the coaster’s rises.

And if those cookies smelled good enough to eat, which they did, stop by Jack-Jack Cookie Num Nums just outside the exit.

Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind
Pixar Pier isn’t the first zone to honor Pixar characters: Radiator Springs still thrives in the park’s Cars Land while Orlando guests roam Andy’s backyard in Disney’s Hollywood Studios’ Toy Story Land. But regular parkgoers will also likely remember “a bug’s land,” the a bug’s life-themed oasis that pre-dated the Avengers Campus.

The spirit of that mini-land’s spinning attraction Flik’s Flyers is now embodied by Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind. Guests once boarded old animal cracker boxes and applesauce containers to fly through the air, while they now ride the boisterous emotions of Inside Out. With eyes closed, it’s almost like Flik’s Flyers has returned.

Two girls wearing mouse ears play Heimlich’s Candy Corn Toss. One, wearing a blue shirt, tosses candy corn toward one of three Heimlichs, all of whom have mouths open. On the side, two smiling cast members each hold a stuffed prize—one ladybug and one caterpillar—as they watch the candy corn midair.

Heimlich’s Return
There’s more than one nod to “a bug’s land” on Pixar Pier. One of the midway’s four game booths is Heimlich’s Candy Corn Toss, where guests throw oversized candy corns into the caterpillar’s mouth. You might remember Heimlich’s Chew Chew Train, where Heimlich took guests through a huge watermelon, sweet-smelling animal crackers, and candy corn. Though Heimlich’s tours have been retired, you can still hear his voice at his midway game.

Neighborhoods
While Disney California Adventure is divided into themed lands, Pixar Pier included, the pier itself merges its own neighborhoods—and their clever names aren’t on the directory. Guests may enter through Pixar Promenade, home to Knick’s Knacks and Lamplight Lounge, and continue to Incredibles Park. Past this is Toy Story Boardwalk, which boasts the iconic Toy Story Midway Mania! and game booths, then head out through the brightly-colored Inside Out Headquarters.

Subtle Pixar Characters
Under the Pixar Promenade canopy, it’s easy to be so distracted by the vibrancy around you that you don’t notice the details above. Silhouettes of Pixar characters embellish the space between the canopy beams, from Edna Mode to Bruce the shark. Four rows guarantee plenty of characters, so look up to find your favorite.

A photo of the front of the Angry Dogs snack booth. A large figure of Anger, a bright-red emotion from Inside Out, wears a white collared shirt, red tie, belt, and dark trousers. His fists are thrown in the air, face enraged, as flames fly from the top of his head. Atop the horizontal flames is a hot dog, with “Angry Dogs” in black lettering across it.

Everything About Angry Dogs
Perhaps leaning the most into its theme is Angry Dogs, an Inside Out-inspired snack stall. We’re not completely sure about the backstory, but it looks like Anger has taken his rage and funneled it into something productive: hot dogs. Enjoy an Angry Dog, a spicy hot dog with hot “fries,” or a Slightly Annoyed Dog, a plain hot dog with potato chips. Our favorite part is the detail of the condiments, which span from “Keeping It Together” (ketchup) to “Raging” (Buffalo hot sauce).

Luxo Jr.
This detail may be an obvious one, but it’s one of our favorites. Pixar’s mascot and beloved lamp, Luxo Jr., watches over guests from atop the dazzling “Pixar Pier” marquee. He often turns to look at the crowds below, and even sneaks a peek at the “World of Color” water spectacular. Stop by to make eye contact—or lightbulb contact?—with Luxo Jr. before enjoying the pier.

Disney D23 Rewind—Week of January 30

By Courtney Potter

Scott Lang Announces New Memoir Look Out for the Little Guy! Coming This Fall

He’s an Avenger, an Employee of the Century at a certain national ice cream chain—and now, Scott Lang is adding “published author” to his list of accolades. Ahead of the premiere of Marvel Studios’ Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania on February 17, our friends at Marvel announced that the book Look Out for the Little Guy!—which appears in the feature film—will be coming to bookstores this fall. See Paul Rudd, who famously (and hilariously) portrays Lang, make the announcement in the clip, below.

In Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania, Lang has written a memoir about his life as a Super Hero and Avenger—and of course it’s a bestseller! As the movie opens, he’s currently on a book tour for Look Out for the Little Guy!, doing readings at bookshops and smiling for the camera.

In close association with Marvel Studios and the filmmakers, Hyperion Avenue is bringing the book seen in the movie to real life, with Lang’s bracingly honest account of his struggles and triumphs—including the official account of what really happened between The Avengers and Thanos.

The hardcover adult fiction book is now available for preorder with an on-sale date set for Tuesday, September 5, and retails for $26.99.

Titanic: 25 Years Later with James Cameron Finally Settles Whether the Raft Could Have Fit Two People

If you’re among the countless fans who’ve said Jack and Rose could have both fit on that raft in Titanic (1997), director James Cameron is ready to see if you’re right…

The experiment is part of the documentary Titanic: 25 Years Later with James Cameron, which airs this Sunday, February 5, at 9 p.m. ET/PT on National Geographic. The new doc features the story of how the sunken ship was found, how it sank, and if additional lifeboats could have saved more lives.

In the segment, Cameron adds a postscript to his fictional retelling of the tragedy: After hearing fans insist that Jack (Leonardo DiCaprio) didn’t have to die that night, he gathers hypothermia experts and mounts tests to determine, once and for all, whether both Jack and Rose (Kate Winslet) could have fit on the raft and survived.

Titanic: 25 Years Later with James Cameron leads into Titanic’s remastered theatrical release on Friday, February 10—mark your ’90s-loving calendars!

The Pocketwatch (Working Title)—Newest Installment of Descendants Franchise is Now in Production!

Just this week, Disney Branded Television revealed that The Pocketwatch (working title), the newest installment in Disney’s mega-hit Descendants franchise, has started production!

In the video above, Kylie Cantrall (Red), Malia Baker (Chloe), Dara Reneé (Uliana), Morgan Dudley (Ella), and Joshua Colley (Hook) are seen taking part in a recording session for the film, kicking off what’s sure to be a memorable few months.

Late last year, it was revealed that talented multi-hyphenate performers Brandy and Rita Ora will journey to the fantastical kingdom of Auradon in the film—joining a cast that also includes China Anne McClain, Ruby Rose Turner, and Melanie Paxson

The expansive new story finds polar opposites Red and Chloe crossing paths at a momentous celebration in Auradon when unexpected chaos breaks out. In order to prevent an impending coup, they must join forces to travel back in time—via a magical pocket watch created by the Mad Hatter’s son—to stop an event that would lead to grave consequences.

Stay tuned for more The Pocketwatch news as it becomes available!
