It’s a tale as old as time, but it continues to be told in new ways—and new languages. The Disney Parks Blog announced that Beauty and the Beast is coming to the Walt Disney Grand Theatre at Shanghai Disney Resort next year, and the hit Broadway musical will be performed in Mandarin.
The production will be performed by talented actors from across China, continuing Shanghai Disney Resort’s commitment to showcase local music theater talent and deliver amazing live entertainment that is authentically Disney and also distinctly Chinese. The show is being brought to the stage by Shanghai Disney Resort and Disney Theatrical Productions, whose most recent partnership was the breathtaking The Lion King Mandarin production, which ends its run at the Walt Disney Grand Theatre next month.
Since it opened on Broadway in 1994, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast has played to more than 35 million people in 37 countries around the world.
