Atlanta

Atlanta (Season Three Premieres March 24 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on FX)
After a four-year absence, Atlanta returns with its third season premiering on Thursday, March 24, at 10 p.m. ET/PT on FX and—for the first time ever—in-season streaming the next day on Hulu. The fourth and final season is slated to debut in the fall.

Season three is set (and filmed) almost entirely in Europe, and follows Earn (Donald Glover), Paper Boi (Brian Tyree Henry), Darius (LaKeith Stanfield), and Van (Zazie Beetz)—in the midst of a successful European tour—as they navigate their new surroundings as outsiders and struggle to adjust to the newfound success they had aspired to. “We play a lot with ambiguity,” said Hiro Murai, executive producer and director. “It’s a lot of interactions that kind of hit you in a weird way and you don’t know how to take it. And so, I think we lean into that a little bit more this season, just because it’s kind of a ‘fish out of water’ story. The cast is in Europe and there’s a literal language barrier. I think we leaned into what made us feel weird about being there.”

Snowfall

Snowfall (Season Five Premieres Wednesday, February 23 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on FX)
FX’s most-watched series, Snowfall, returns for a fifth season after a critically acclaimed fourth installment. Season five premieres on Wednesday, February 23, at 10 p.m. ET/PT on FX and streaming on Hulu.

Set in the summer of 1986, Franklin Saint (Damson Idris) and his entire family are rich beyond their wildest dreams, on the verge of having everything they’ve ever wanted… right as the ground begins to fall out from under their feet. The sudden and tragic death of basketball star Len Bias makes the rock cocaine epidemic front-page news, the target of both Democrat and Republican lawmakers. Law enforcement is on a warpath and the militarization of the L.A.P.D. continues as police and politicians decide the only way to deal with this growing scourge is through force—and the creation of the new C.R.A.S.H. (Community Resources Against Street Hoodlums) units. The streets of south-central Los Angeles are more dangerous than ever, as the Saint family navigates the police, the warring gangs, and the CIA. Through it all, the biggest threat the family faces is each other… while they try not to let greed, resentment, and ego tear them apart.

“The essence that [the late John] Singleton implanted in me was to just be truthful—stay true to the story, true to the people of the times and really respect this time,” said Idris, who is also a producer on the series. “We often talk about the bad that came out of this time, but so much good came out of it, too. It had a huge impact on pop culture, fashion, music—and that’s what the show shines a lens on.” Created by Singleton and Eric Amadio and Dave Andron, Snowfall is executive produced by Singleton, Andron (who serves as showrunner), Amadio, Thomas Schlamme, Michael London, Trevor Engelson, Leonard Chang, Walter Mosley and Julie DeJoie. Snowfall is produced by FX Productions.

Better Things

Better Things (Season Five Premieres Monday, February 28 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on FX)
The fifth and final chapter focuses on the road ahead for its unconventional, unfiltered heroine, Sam Fox (Pamela Adlon)—so devoted to her life as a working actor and single mother of three that she’s left little time for that one elusive thing: herself. As she navigates three daughters, each coming of age; the challenges of her chosen career; and her mother’s increasing signs of aging (as well as her own), Sam embraces each moment, and each member of her family, with a fierce love, raw honesty, and biting humor. As each of the Fox women come of age into the next phase of their life, they are inspired to reevaluate themselves, learn from the past and find their own direction.

Said director, writer, executive producer and star Adlon about the final season, “It’s deeply personal to me because my kids are all grown now—and look at Olivia and Hannah and Mikey; it’s shocking! I mean, we’ve been working on this for seven years. When you’re a parent, and your kids grow up, it’s like Sam says in the first episode: ‘I’m jealous of everybody who gets to meet you down the road.’ She’s ready to launch these kids—but it’s really mean that they grew up and they’re leaving everybody in the dust a little bit, especially here[touching her heart].”

Watch the conclusion of the Fox family’s journey beginning Monday, February 28, at 10 p.m. ET/PT on FX and streaming on Hulu.

Disney+’s Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers—The Gumshoes are Back!

It’s a comeback 30 years in the making… Earlier this week, our pals at Disney+ released the first trailer (and a new poster) for the original movie Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers.

The hybrid live-action/CG animated action-comedy catches up with the former Disney Afternoon television stars in modern-day Los Angeles, where they’re living amongst both cartoons and humans—but their lives are decidedly different now. But when a former cast mate mysteriously disappears, Chip and Dale must repair their broken friendship and take on their Rescue Rangers detective personas once again to save their friend’s life.

KiKi Layne also stars in the film, with Will Arnett, Eric Bana, Flula Borg, Dennis Haysbert, Keegan-Michael Key, Tress MacNeille, Tim Robinson, Seth Rogen, J.K. Simmons, and Chris Parnell rounding out the cast. Directed by Akiva Schaffer and written by Dan Gregor and Doug Mand, Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers premieres Friday, May 20, exclusively on the streamer.

The Original Proud Family Characters: Where Are They Now?

By Zach Johnson

It’s time to get reacquainted with the Proud family.

On Wednesday, February 23, the Disney+ Original series The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder will continue the stories of Penny Proud, her madcap family, and her loyal crew, first seen in the groundbreaking Disney Channel series The Proud Family (2001-2005). It’s been nearly two decades since the fan-favorite characters were last seen onscreen—and although much has changed, in some ways, they’re still the same.

“The best thing about The Proud Family is that we have conversations about things other people usually shy away from,” says Kyla Pratt, who voices Penny Proud. “I’m so excited to be a part of this project. I’m a fan, too! I’m literally like, ‘When do I get to see the next episode? It’s great to be part of something that touches so many people in so many different ways.”

Before the two-episode premiere, the cast shares updates on their characters:

Penny Proud (voiced by Kyla Pratt)
The 2020s brings new challenges for Penny, including trying to find the peace with Maya Leibowitz-Jenkins (voiced by Keke Palmer), a socially woke neighbor who thinks she has a lot to teach her. Much to her father’s chagrin, 14-year-old Penny also has a new boyfriend, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Brown (voiced by Asante Blackk). Plus, she’s taking a stand against bullying social media influencers. “When you bring a show like this back, you have to upgrade it to reflect what’s going on right now,” Pratt says. “You want the kids watching to relate to it. I can’t imagine growing up with social media, so for kids to have something like The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder address all of that—and everything else going on in the world—it’ll help them during that process.”

Oscar Proud (voiced by Tommy Davidson)
Admittedly, Oscar is struggling with seeing Penny, his eldest child, mature. “He’s just like every father whose little girl starts transitioning into womanhood,” Davidson tells D23. “All fathers are uncomfortable with that growth, you know what I mean? It’s just a new thing altogether. I’ve gone through it a couple of times… Parenting is no joke!”

Trudy Proud (voiced by Paula Jai Parker)
Veterinarian Trudy is expanding her business with a pet ambulance. “She’s taking it on the road,” says Parker, “and I think that is a testament to the growth of the show.” Between that and raising three kids with Oscar, Trudy has her (very capable) hands full.

Suga Mama (voiced by JoMarie Payton)
Suga Mama remains ready as ever to dispense tough love or a gentle hand whenever Penny needs it. “I like the honesty in Suga Mama’s voice,” Payton says. “I like the freedom she has to be honest and to be down to earth. She says it how she means it.”

Dijonay Jones (voiced by Karen Malina White)
Impulsive and loyal, Dijonay always keeps things interesting. White, for one, can’t wait to see what fans think of Dijonay’s evolution. “Fans from the original series will be excited,” she says. “And now we’re getting a whole new audience, a whole new generation of fans.”

LaCienega Boulevardez (voiced by Alisa Reyes)
LaCienega and Penny are still frenemies. Despite their differences—or perhaps because of them—they learn a lot from each other. “No matter how sassy or spunky LaCienega is, at the end of the day, she always learns from her trials and tribulations,” Reyes explains. “There’s always a moral lesson, and that’s what I love about this show.”

Zoey Howzer (voiced by Soleil Moon Frye)
The adorably awkward Zoey is starting to find her groove, and it’s just one of the many things Frye loves about voicing the character. “I feel like when people watch the show, you can really identify with a certain character,” she says. “You can find a piece of yourself reflected. It’s so wonderful that families can watch it together and say, ‘I identify with this character.’ ‘I identify with this one.’ It’s such a testament to the show.”

Michael Collins (voiced by EJ Johnson)
Even now, Penny’s fashion-loving friend is still a trendsetter—just look at their pink hair, for instance! Johnson describes their nonconforming character to D23 as “fabulous, unapologetic, fearless, carefree, and loving,” adding, “I just love that they’re themselves. Michael has the wit, the sass, the great one-liners, and the outfit changes!”

Want to know what’s new with Uncle Bobby (voiced by Cedric “The Entertainer”), Felix Boulevardez (voiced by Carlos Mencia), Sunset Boulevardez (voiced by Maria Canals-Barrera), Papi (voiced by Alvaro Gutierrez), Myron Lewinski (voiced by Marcus T. Paulk), and Nubia Gross (voiced by Raquel Lee Bolleau)? Stream The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder when the first two episodes debut on Disney+ Wednesday, February 23.

Everything New You Can Stream on Disney+ in March 2022

By Zach Johnson

Disney+ is pulling out all the stops this March!

The streamer just announced several new titles that will become available to stream throughout the month, starting with Disney and Pixar’s Turning Red on March 11. The film introduces Mei Lee (voice of Rosalie Chiang), a confident, dorky 13-year-old torn between staying her mother’s dutiful daughter and the chaos of adolescence. Her protective (if not slightly overbearing) mother, Ming (voice of Sandra Oh), is never far from her daughter—an unfortunate reality for the teenager. As if changes to her interests, relationships, and body weren’t enough, whenever Mei Lee gets too excited (which is practically ALWAYS), she “poofs” into a giant red panda! Also premiering that day will be Embrace the Panda: Making Turning Red, a documentary about the all-women team at the helm of Pixar’s original feature. With behind-the-scenes access to director Domee Shi and her core leadership crew, this story shines a light on the powerful professional and personal journeys that brought this heartfelt story to the screen.

Cheaper by the Dozen

A week later, on March 18, Disney+ will premiere two new original films. Cheaper by the Dozen is a fresh take on the 2003 hit family comedy that follows the raucous exploits of a blended family of 12, the Bakers, as they navigate a hectic home life while simultaneously managing their family business. The movie stars Gabrielle Union, Zach Braff, Erika Christensen, Timon Kyle Durrett, Journee Brown, Kylie Rogers, Andre Robinson, Caylee Blosenski, Aryan Simhadri, Leo Abelo Perry, Mykal-Michelle Harris, Christian Cote, Sebastian Cote, and Luke Prael. More Than Robots, meanwhile, is an original documentary presented by Supper Club and Disney+ and made in partnership with FIRST®. It follows four teams of teens from around the world as they prepare for the 2020 FIRST Robotics Competition. Get to know teams from Los Angeles, Mexico City and Chiba, Japan as they work towards the goal of taking their unique designs all the way to the highly competitive global championships. Despite their various obstacles, they persevere and learn there is more to the competition than just robots.

The series Parallels, premiering March 23 with all episodes, follows four teenage friends on the French-Swiss border whose lives are turned upside down after a mysterious event scatters them across time and into separate universes. With two friends in the present day, and the other two in a completely separate timeline, they must find a way to reunite, unravel the mysteries of what happened, and then return home—before their futures are altered forever.

Moon Knight

As we announced earlier today, OLIVIA RODRIGO: driving home 2 u (a SOUR film) will premiere on March 25. Grammy® Award-nominated singer-songwriter Olivia Rodrigo takes a familiar road trip from Salt Lake City, where she began writing her debut album SOUR, to Los Angeles. Along the way, Rodrigo recounts the memories of writing and creating her record-breaking debut album and shares her feelings as a young woman navigating a specific time in her life. Through new live arrangements of her songs, intimate interviews, and never-before-seen footage from the making of the album, the cinematic journey explores the story of SOUR. In The Wonderful Spring of Mickey Mouse, also debuting March 25, Mickey Mouse and his friends explore the promise of the spring season through the lens of a nature documentary.

Closing out the premieres in March will be Marvel Studios’ highly anticipated series Moon Knight, streaming March 30. (Watch a Big Game spot here.) When Steven Grant (Oscar Isaac), a mild-mannered gift-shop employee, becomes plagued with blackouts and memories of another life, he discovers he has dissociative identity disorder and shares a body with mercenary Marc Spector. As Steven/Marc’s enemies converge upon them, they must navigate their complex identities while thrust into a deadly mystery among the powerful gods of Egypt.

The Proud Family

In addition, brand-new episodes of the Disney+ Original series The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder will continue to debut weekly on Wednesdays. Throughout the month, the streamer will add episodes of fan-favorite series such as Mickey Mouse Funhouse and Muppet Babies, as well as complete seasons of Brain Games: On the Road and The Doc Files. By the D23 Team

From indulging in Inside Out-inspired treats and going on a picnic with Frozen friends, to immersive shows featuring Disney Princesses, villains, and heroes... the newest Disney Cruise Line ship has been expertly designed to deliver endless fun for the whole family.

“Family is at the heart of everything we do,” said Laura Cabo, portfolio creative executive, Walt Disney Imagineering. “When we set out to design the next generation of Disney cruise ships, we wanted to provide families with more opportunities than ever to make lasting memories together and to experience Disney storytelling in completely new ways. Whether it’s a new take on a guest favorite experience, like our signature sweets shop, or an immersive show in a first-of-its-kind venue like Luna and Hero Zone, there will be no shortage of family fun aboard the Disney Wish.”

Disney Wish

Inside Out: Joyful Sweets

Inside Out: Joyful Sweets will emphasize the sweeter side of life. In this dazzling dessert shop inspired by the Pixar film, guests will find an abundance of handmade gelato, ice cream, candy, and novelty treats for purchase. This brightly colored wonderland—designed to resemble the control center inside 11-year-old Riley’s mind, where her emotions guide her through everyday life—will feature sculpted figures of the film’s five main characters and glowing memory orb light fixtures.

The shop will offer nearly 40 flavors of gelato and ice cream, with daily handcrafted gelato specials in decadent combinations like peanut butter pretzel and white chocolate raspberry. Whipped cream, fruit compotes, and sauces will be freshly made in-house to complement a wide selection of tasty toppings.

Signature treats inspired by the film will include colorful cupcakes that evoke the five emotions—Joy (lemon), Sadness (blueberry), Disgust (pistachio), Anger (red velvet), and Fear (bubble gum)—and chocolate memory orbs filled with sweet candy remembrances. Specialty macarons and cake pops will join the assortment of handcrafted truffles, designer cookies, indulgent brownies, and vibrant candy offerings.

Olaf’s Royal Picnic

For the first time ever, guests can join their favorite Frozen friends for a summertime picnic in Arendelle during a premium entertainment experience specially designed for families with children ages 3 to 12. At Olaf’s Royal Picnic, guests will interact with Olaf, Anna, Elsa, and Kristoff like never before and delight in live musical performances of beloved songs like “Let It Go,” “Fixer Upper,” and “In Summer.”

Under the expert direction of Baroness Dagmar Birgir—a lively lady-in-waiting to Queen Anna—castle staff will serve up delicious summer treats and picnic fare for the whole family to enjoy. The hall will be decked out in summer splendor just for the occasion, with a canopy of colorful flowers among the festive decor. Children will receive an assortment of gifts and keepsakes, including a reversible troll plush, themed picnic blanket and custom Nordic-style mandolin, which they’ll need for a special “Reindeer(s) Are Better Than People” strum-and-sing-along with Kristoff. From royal proclamations to unexpected visitors, the show will be jam-packed with surprises worth melting for. Guests who have booked a Disney Wish cruise may reserve Olaf's Royal Picnic before their sailing for an additional fee.

Immersive Storytelling and Interactive Shows

As previously announced, Disney Cruise Line is combining innovative design and technology to create the next generation of family entertainment venues aboard the Disney Wish: Grand Hall, Luna, and Hero Zone. These imaginative environments will come to life with immersive storytelling and interactive shows that put families front and center as they play a part in the magic.

Disney Wish

Grand Hall

The fairytale castle-inspired Grand Hall will evolve from a gathering space into an enchanting theater through the magic of built-in special effects and the first-ever atrium stage on a Disney ship. A royal greeting will await families as they enter the glittering Grand Hall for the first time. Every child will receive their very own wishing wand upon embarkation, which they will use to make the “first wish” of their vacation during a special boarding celebration. During the sailing, families can attend a royal gathering of magnificent proportions as Disney Princesses descend into the Grand Hall to meet and greet with guests. The stage will conceal a host of Disney friends during “Who’s Behind the Curtain?”—a playful game show where guests answer questions to reveal the identity of hidden characters. On the final night of every sailing, cruisers will return to the Grand Hall and raise their wands with Fairy Godmother to ignite a spectacular farewell show featuring favorite characters, special effects, and lively performances.

Disney Wish

Luna

This brand-new entertainment hub—outfitted with a two-story LED screen wall, stage, and bar—will offer a variety of live shows designed for families to laugh, sing, and compete together. Villains Game Night is a witty game show where guests will attempt to answer Disney trivia questions amid the jeers and sneers of nefarious Disney foes, including Cruella de Vil, Gaston, Hades, Maleficent, and more, who will join on screen. Disney Songbook will put guests in the spotlight as they belt out Disney songs and showcase their star talent for a live camera crew, who will project each performance onto the big screen.

Plus, during the live grand finale event for Disney Uncharted Adventure—an all-new interactive experience that uses guests’ mobile devices to unlock hidden adventures aboard the ship—families will team up with other cruisers at Luna to battle an infamous Disney villain.

Disney Wish

Hero Zone

Introducing a completely new category of active family play to the Disney Cruise Line portfolio, Hero Zone is a futuristic sports arena where physical activity will blend with imagination—offering highly produced show experiences in addition to free-play sports. Families will test their strength, speed, and stamina during the Incredi-Games, a high-energy game show featuring an elaborate obstacle course of over-the-top physical challenges, each inspired by the dynamic characters of Pixar’s The Incredibles. Now with more fanfare than ever before, the guest-favorite Disney Cruise Line experience Jack-Jack’s Incredible Diaper Dash will offer terrific tots the chance to compete for the coveted title of Diaper Dash Champion as they speed-crawl across a 20-foot track amid the cheers (and chuckles) of family, friends, and adoring fans.

Disney Wish

More Fun Throughout the Ship

In true Disney Cruise Line fashion, the Disney Wish will offer a robust menu of world-class entertainment infused with more Disney storytelling, bringing to life the fantastical worlds and beloved characters at the heart of Disney, Pixar, Marvel, and Star Wars adventures like never before. Families will embark on a splashtacular adventure with Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse aboard the first-ever Disney attraction at sea; revel in a royal celebration during a theatrical dining experience with Frozen friends; team up with the Avengers on a Marvel cinematic dining adventure; travel to a galaxy far, far away in a first-of-its-kind Star Wars experience on board a Disney ship; delight in an original, Broadway-style theatrical production of The Little Mermaid; and so much more!

Maiden Voyage and Inaugural Season

The Disney Wish will sail its maiden voyage on July 14, 2022, followed by a season of three- and four-night cruises to Nassau, Bahamas, and Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay, from Port Canaveral, Florida.

OLIVIA RODRIGO: driving home 2 u (a SOUR film) Coming to Disney+ This March

By Zach Johnson

This is going to be quite a ride! Today, multiple Grammy® Award-nominated singer-songwriter Olivia Rodrigo announced on social media that her new upcoming original film, OLIVIA RODRIGO: driving home 2 u (a SOUR film), will debut exclusively on Disney+ on March 25, 2022.

For the first time, Rodrigo takes audiences on a familiar road trip from Salt Lake City—the shooting location for the first two seasons of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series—where she began writing her triple-platinum Geffen Records debut album SOUR, to Los Angeles. Along the way, she recounts the memories of writing and creating her record-breaking debut album and shares her feelings as a young woman navigating a specific time in her life. Through new live arrangements of her songs, intimate interviews, and never-before-seen footage from the making of the album, follow Rodrigo along on a cinematic journey exploring the story of SOUR, which features her quadruple-platinum debut “drivers license,” among other hit songs.

OLIVIA RODRIGO: driving home 2 u features 11 songs from SOUR performed with brand-new arrangements in unique locations, including Mojave Airplane Boneyard, Roy’s Motel & Café, Arcosanti, and the Red Rock Canyon State Park. It also includes special guest performances and appearances by Grammy-nominated artist Jacob Collier, Blu DeTiger, and Towa Bird. The film also explores how SOUR came to be through Rodrigo’s personal stories and behind-the-scenes footage, which feature intimate moments that showcase her artistry in and out of the studio.

“This is a unique film experience where, for the first time, fans will understand how her album came to be and why it was such a personal journey for Olivia,” said Ayo Davis, president, Disney Branded Television. “This is not a concert film per se, but really, an opportunity to experience first-hand how Olivia Rodrigo became one of the biggest music stars of the day—and a chance to see her perform the songs from SOUR like never before.”

OLIVIA RODRIGO: driving home 2 u is a Disney+ Original film from Disney Branded Television, directed by Stacey Lee and produced by Interscope Films and Supper Club.

driving home 2 u is such a unique and fresh approach to a music film, and that’s just what we’ve come to expect from Olivia,” said John Janick, chairman of Interscope Geffen A&M and Interscope Films. “It’s an authentic look into her creative process, her incredible drive, and who she is as an artist and person. We’re so proud to have co-produced this film with Supper Club and are thrilled that it has found a home on Disney +.”

Watch an Exclusive Clip from The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder

By Zach Johnson

The wait is almost over!

We’re counting down the days until the two-episode series premiere of The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder on Disney+. To add to our excitement, our friends at the streamer have shared an exclusive clip with D23 that features Uncle Bobby (voiced by Cedric “The Entertainer”) helping Trudy Proud (voiced by Paula Jai Parker) prepare to take her business to the next level. All Trudy has to do is “hit the button”… but as the scene below shows, it’s not quite that simple!

The season will find Trudy reaching new career heights. “Trudy was always a veterinarian, but now she’s taking it on the road,” Parker tells D23 in an exclusive interview. “I think that is a testament of the growth of the show. I am proud that The Proud Family was the first African American cartoon on Disney Channel—and on any network. We predate all of what is now a staple of Black cartoons. The fact that we’re not going back to where we were, but we’re progressing to where we are, is Disney all day long. That’s just what Disney does. They don’t allow you to stagnate, because the world isn’t stagnated. We all grow up. We all grow better.”

In addition to Cedric “The Entertainer” and Parker, the new original series’ returning voice cast from The Proud Family includes Kyla Pratt as Penny Proud, Tommy Davidson as Oscar Proud, JoMarie Payton as Suga Mama, Karen Malina White as Dijonay Jones, Alisa Reyes as LaCienega Boulevardez, and Soleil Moon Frye as Zoey Howzer. Returning recurring cast members include Carlos Mencia as Felix Boulevardez, Maria Canals-Barrera as Sunset Boulevardez, Alvaro Gutierrez as Papi, Marcus T. Paulk as Myron Lewinski, and Raquel Lee Bolleau as Nubia Gross.

The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder premieres Wednesday, February 23, only on Disney+.
