Kostal, Irwin (1911-1994) Musical director, worked on the score and background music for Mary Poppins, Bedknobs and Broomsticks, and Pete’s Dragon, and for all three received Academy Award nominations. He was also called upon to create a new digitally recorded sound track for Fantasia in 1982, an assignment that he felt was the most challenging of his career. He was named a Disney Legend in 2004.
