Running from June 6, 1975 through September 6, 1976 America on Parade enjoyed the distinction of being the first parade produced simultaneously at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World. A parade commemorating the American Bicentennial, this celebration of red, white, and blue milestones in U.S. history featured a kaleidoscopic color palette, amazing floats, and a series of costumes featuring oversized heads and characters eight feet tall—which necessitated, for the first time ever—the use of back braces and harnesses to support them. This was the 16th Monsanto Night special sponsored by Monsanto in the 1970s and the only one with a Disney theme.
