A year after Mickey’s Toontown first drew guests into the new land, a ride opened with a new spin on “dark ride” attractions, Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin, which first spun into action on this day in 1994. This was the first ride-thru attraction which allowed guests to take control of their vehicles while following a track — with the added fun of being able to spin completely around. While waiting to ride the whirling journey, guests are treated to one of the most elaborate queues in Disney theme parks. In addition to the visual treats, you might hear sounds of those villainous weasels from beneath a manhole, Donald Duck playing the piano, Jessica Rabbit in her dressing room, and a 20-minute radio program, complete with music, humorous commercials, and, of course, the jingle for “Radio Toontown,” whose call letters, of course, are W.A.C.K.Y.
