Howdy folks. On this date in 1945, one of the dad-gummest legends came to the big screen in the Pluto cartoon short The Legend of Coyote Rock. Now this here tale took our hero Pluto to the great canyons to portray “man’s faithful and trusted friend . . . the sheepdog,” to watch over and protect the flock. Well, folks, nearby a certain lamb chop eating varmint was on the prowl… an old coyote named Bent-Tail. In the end, the critter’s sheep-eating attempts are thwarted, and the coyote met an early demise. But shucks, this is just a cartoon, so don’t be feeling too sorry for old Bent-Tail, he went on to appear in a total of four cartoon shorts as well as Disney Comics.
