Mission: Space rocketed into Epcot in Walt Disney World on this day in 2003. Located in Future World, it’s an incredibly realistic rocket launch experience where guests can find out what it’s like to train like real astronauts. To bring as realistic of an experience as possible, Disney spent five years of collaboration and research with NASA and former and current astronauts. This, along with the aerospace centrifuge technology, makes for an unforgettable journey, but the realism doesn’t end there. The images of Mars were created using real data from the red planet, including actual photographs from the Mars orbiters that were at the time sending the images back to Earth. Now there’s an attraction that’s really out of this world!
