It was on this day in 1932 that Mickey Mouse and his sweetheart Minnie were married—in his dreams. In the 44th Mickey Mouse cartoon and the first Disney film distributed by United Artists, our beloved mouse goes to sleep only to have Pluto lick his face, which causes Mickey to dream of kissing Minnie. The dream continues all the way to a pleasant wedding ceremony and a stork delivering a baby mouse. Then another stork delivers a baby, but it doesn’t stop there. Stork after stork and baby after baby arrive at the mouse house, and as in previous Mickey cartoons, he finds himself victim to a multitude of bratty little mice who know how to make his life miserable. From playing with paint to throwing knives at our hero, Mickey’s dream has turned into a nightmare. When Pluto again licks his face, Mickey is awakened and rejoices that he is, in fact, a happy bachelor.
