Mickey is happily building Pluto’s doghouse when a box from Australia arrives containing a boxing kangaroo named Hoppy (and, as it turns out, her son, Joey). While Mickey initially takes pleasure in teaching Hoppy how to box, Pluto is not having as swell of a time (his thoughts are spoken out loud in the short). In the end Pluto and the baby bouncer are friends, and Mickey proves no match for Hoppy, and in fact, our lovable mouse emerges from a hay-bailing machine at the end of the short, thinking he’s still in mid fight with his Australian guest. This decidedly bouncy short has the distinction of being the last black-and-white Disney cartoon.
