In this revealing episode of the Disneyland TV series, directed by Clyde Geronimi, a former sequence and supervising director on many classic Disney animated features and the director of many early Disney TV shows, Walt introduces a series of Silly Symphonies and spotlights the stories and folktales that led to their creation. Among the insights Walt shared with viewers was the story of Chicago newspaper columnist Eugene Field, who wrote the tale behind Wynken, Blynken, and Nod, one of the Silly Symphonies highlighted in the show. Another is the charming story of Charles Kingsley, the great min-19th-century English writer and naturalist, who is shown telling the delightful tale behind Water Babies (but Merbabies is the Silly Symphony showcased in “More About Silly Symphonies”). The other Symphonies highlighted are The Grasshopper and the Ants, Farmyard Symphony, and Who Killed Cock Robin?
