D23: The Official Disney Fan Club made a triumphant return to Sleepy Hollow, New York, with a vibrant celebration that delighted fans at a sold-out event celebrating the legendary town and the stories it has inspired. Attendees not only commemorated the 75th anniversary of The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad, but also honored the rich 150-year history of the founding of the village of Sleepy Hollow.
Guests began their day at the historic Tarrytown Music Hall, where they received their credentials and a D23-Exclusive Ichabod Crane pin upon check-in. Becky Cline, Director of the Walt Disney Archives, launched the festivities before the largest and most enthusiastic audience in Sleepy Hollow International Film Festival history! D23 Members enjoyed premium seating for Cline’s presentation, which included a retrospective on both segments of the classic animated film—The Wind in the Willows and The Legend of Sleepy Hollow!
D23 Members were welcomed into the Historic Old Dutch Church and Graveyard by the Sleepy Hollow Historical Society for an exclusive, sold-out tour. This highly sought-after experience explored the locations that inspired Washington Irving’s original tale, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.
To cap off the day, D23 Members enjoyed a delightful fall reception at Kingsland Point Park, featuring seasonal favorites that perfectly encapsulated the spirit of autumn. Guests savored warm cider and hot cocoa, and snacked on seasonal favorites, and enjoyed hayrides around the park, and photo opportunities as the sounds of a live band got everyone dancing to some classic Halloween and spooky Disney tunes!
Over the four day Sleepy Hollow International Film Festival, D23 created some surprise and delight moments! There were D23-hosted screenings introduced by Becky Cline and Justin Arthur of Tim Burton’s Ed Wood and the creepy classic Something Wicked This Way Comes.
Thank you to all our D23 Members who came out and kicked off the Halloween Season with us! We still have more spook-tacular events to come like D23 Tune-in To Terror: A Hollywood Halloween—Presented by Disney+. Check it out and we hope to see you there!
