Imagine… it’s this day in 1955 and the biggest names in television history are gathered at the Seventh Annual Emmy Awards®. The nominees for Best Variety Series Including Musical Variety are The George Gobel Show, The Jackie Gleason Show, Toast of the Town, Your Hit Parade, The Jack Benny Show Program, and a television newcomer… Disneyland. And the winner is… Disneyland producer Walt Disney. This honor for Walt’s initial foray into television marked his first Emmy, but the evening didn’t end there. By night’s end, he won his second Emmy for the episode of Disneyland entitled Operation Undersea in the Best Individual Show category.
