The Queen, she likes ’em red—and here at D23, so do we!
An all-new episode of Disney Junior’s Alice's Wonderland Bakery, streaming Wednesday, December 7, on Disney+, features a nod to the song “Painting the Roses Red” from the 1951 feature film Alice in Wonderland—and D23: The Official Disney Fan Club has an exclusive sneak peek! In “Queen Alice,” the Queen of Hearts (voiced by Eden Espinosa) goes away for a day and asks Alice (voiced by Libby Rue) to take her place. But it isn’t long before Alice discovers just how hard it is to rule Wonderland.
“Featuring iconic songs such as ‘Painting the Roses Red’ in Alice’s Wonderland Bakery connects our show to the legacy of the 1951 film,” executive producer Chelsea Beyl tells D23. “We’ve framed the world of Alice in Wonderland around this whimsical bakery, reimagined the characters, and even added flavors from different cultures, but a lot of the musical influences, including these memorable ditties, remain the same. We wanted to preserve the spirit of the property, and in our version of the song, Alice gets to lead the Card Guards as they paint the roses red for the Queen of Hearts."
The episode will air on Disney Channel and Disney Junior early next year.
