On this day in 2007, Ashley Brown took time off from her nanny duties starring as Mary Poppins on Broadway, to teach a master class for the Broadway Artists Alliance. The Broadway Artists Alliance provides professional level training in the musical theatre arts for promising young artists by affording them the opportunity to study with current Broadway performers, Tony Award® winners, industry professionals, and directors who challenge their development. During the Mary Poppins-themed master class, Ashley inspired eager young students between the ages of 10 and 20, each of whom performed their favorite audition selections for Ashley’s feedback. They were taught a section of choreography from the popular “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” number. The Q&A session was a particular treat, in which Ashley reflected on the journey that’s led her to roles on Broadway as Belle in Beauty and the Beast and the title role in Mary Poppins.
