Cam Calloway, as shown in Those Calloways, which flew into theaters on this day in 1965, is a man with a dream: to one day establish a sanctuary for the geese that fly overhead during their long migration. Beloved actor Brian Keith starred as Cam in the film and is well-known to baby boomers as Uncle Bill on the television series Family Affair, and to Disney fans as the father to twins Sharon and Susan in The Parent Trap, although he appeared in more than a dozen Disney film and television productions. Playing his wife in the film was Vera Miles, who appeared in such classic films as Psycho and The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, as well as a handful of Disney films. Those Calloways was also a bit of a reunion for both stars, who appeared the previous year in another Disney film, A Tiger Walks. Together, as the Calloways with Brandon de Wilde as son Bucky, they portrayed, as the original publicity described them, “A family you’ll never forget!”
