Take stock of this day in Disney history, when The Associate was released in 1996. Whoopi Goldberg was on the bill as financial analyst Laurel Ayers, who is passed over for a promotion to her less talented, male co-worker, Frank, portrayed by Tim Daly. Disgusted, she forms her own business and fabricates a business partner, a financial whiz that she believes will help aid in her success. Situations force Ayers to impersonate the fictional Mr. Cutty, which proves to be quite the challenge since he is her exact opposite. The makeup transformation to turn Whoopi into Cutty took three and a half hours, banking on the talents of Academy Award®-winning makeup artist Greg Cannom.
