Originally built to look like a medieval fair, with banners and flags decorating the attraction entrances, Fantasyland received a dramatic makeover in 1983 when Walt Disney Imagineering gave Walt Disney’s “happiest kingdom of them all” a fairy-tale transformation. The attraction facades were given much more than paint touch-ups. Each entrance was completely remodeled to reflect the locale and era of the films they represent. Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride was built to look like Toad Hall, Snow White’s Scary Adventures added a creepy castle walk-through and London’s Big Ben was added to the queue of Peter Pan’s Flight. A new attraction, Pinocchio’s Daring Journey, and an adjoining restaurant, known today as Village Haus but originally called Village Inn Restaurant, were also added.
