Hey there, hi there, ho there! In honor of Mickey Mouse’s 60th birthday in 1988, Mickey’s Birthdayland was created in the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World. The quickly designed land included the town of Duckburg, complete with a new stop on the Walt Disney World Railroad. It also featured Grandma Duck’s Farm (a petting zoo), a live show with Disney characters, and a place to meet the birthday boy… uh, mouse, that is, in his dressing room. This was very unique, because at that point there had never been any kind of attraction designed specifically for guests to meet Mickey. Although intended to be just a temporary land, Mickey’s Birthdayland proved to be quite popular, and since it was no longer Mickey’s milestone birthday year, on this day in 1990 the land became known as Mickey’s Starland! In 1996, the land was remodeled and given the name Mickey’s Toontown Fair. See ya real soon!
