On this day in 1935, Clarabelle’s house was on fire, and who better to come to the rescue than the firefighting team of Mickey, Donald, and Goofy in the cartoon short Mickey’s Fire Brigade? While the trio may not have been the most exemplary choice for extinguishing the fire, they certainly make for the most humorous attempt. Flames rush throughout the building, and some seem to take on a personality of their own. In fact, some flames that hit the piano play a little of “Who’s Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf?” Fired up and hard at work, the trio discovers that Clarabelle is taking a bath. Unaware of the situation, the team manages to startle and terrify the poor cow while they rescue her. Although the blaze is never put out, this film offers four-alarm fun.
