Gallegher Debuts on Walt Disney’s Wonderful World of Color

Extra! Extra! Read all about Gallegher, an episode of Walt Disney’s Wonderful World of Color about a young paperboy that first aired on this day in 1965. In this first installment of a three-part story, Gallegher, a boy who wants to become a newspaper reporter, thinks he sees his chance when he realizes a fellow passenger in the stagecoach that brought him to town is none other than the infamous outlaw, the Sundown Kid. Gallegher is based on the original short story by Richard Harding Davis, published in 1891. The popularity of the three Gallegher television episodes led to the three-part The Further Adventures of Gallegher, the four-part Gallegher Goes West and finally the two-part The Mystery of Edward Sims.
