It was once again a battle of duck versus chipmunk in the Donald Duck cartoon short Chips Ahoy, which set sail in theaters — in CinemaScope! — on this day in 1956. When Chip and Dale find themselves hungry with a lack of a food source, they soon spot a big tree filled with acorns on a small island across the lake. They discover a model boat and determine that they should use the conveyance to get to the food, so they steal the boat — from whom else but Donald Duck! The rest of the film focuses on Donald’s attempts to capture the little pirates, but in the end the chipmunks get their food and Donald gets stuck with all the bad luck.
