The grand opening of Euro Disney (now known as Disneyland Paris) took place at midnight on April 12, 1992 after two days of exciting press previews and activities. Disney CEO Michael Eisner introduced Roy E. Disney to make the official dedication. Borrowing the timeless words his Uncle Walt used to dedicated Disneyland, Roy dedicated Disneyland Paris using the famous quote, “To all who come to this happy place, welcome…” Following the dedication speech, Michael, Roy, and the President of Euro Disney, Robert Fitzpatrick, gathered to cut the red ribbon, signifying the official opening. Immediately, a trumpet fanfare filled the air, spectacular fireworks lit up the sky and Mickey Mouse appeared through the glowing gates of Sleeping Beauty Castle. Almost eleven million Guests visited the resort in its inaugural year.
