September 2, 2015September 4, 2015
This photo was taken in Zermatt, Switzerland, during the week of July 6-14, 1958, when Walt and Lilliane were touring Geneva, Lausanne, and Montreux during the filming of Third Man on the Mountain.
Another candid shot of Lillian, taken while the couple stayed in Zermatt.
Walt and Lillian visited Copenhagen from June 28-29, 1958. Disney Archivists believe this intimate photo was taken at the Hotel D’Angleterre. While there, the couple visited the renowned Tivoli Gardens.
One of the world’s most innovative filmmakers, Walt wouldn’t travel all the way to Italy without a movie camera. Here he is seen with a 16 mm. movie camera in a candid moment along the Italian coast during the 1951 trip.

Walt shot this image of his children at Beverly Ponyland, taken in 1947. Was he dreaming up his own, better version of a place where adults and children could have fun together?
Walt sleeping in the shade on the lawn of his Woking Way home on a state-of-the-art '40-s cushion—a book at his side.
The world's preeminent storyteller engrossed in a book.
Walt’s friends enjoying a ride on the Carolwood Pacific, the 1/8-scale model railroad he created for the back yard of his Carolwood home.
One of Walt’s first Imagineers, Harper Goff—a fellow model train enthusiast—seen behind the Lilly Belle steam engine as it powers the Carolwood Pacific on another lap around Walt’s Carolwood Drive home.
We believe this shot was taken at the Berlin Zoo, during Walt’s trip in 1958.
During a trip to Europe, Walt visited Bekonscot, outside of London, where he, his friends, and family walked through miniature replicas of famous cities around the world. Inspiration for the Storybook Land Canal Boats at Disneyland?

Walt and his family visited Denmark in June 1951, where this photograph was taken.
During the week of November 22, 1946, Walt and daughter Sharon traveled throughout Ireland with screenwriter and producer Bill Walsh to conduct preliminary research for what would become Darby O’Gill and the Little People.

Walt’s shot of Bill Walsh kissing the Blarney Stone, at Blarney Castle. According to legend, kissing the stone endows the kisser with the gift of gab, a fine trait for a film producer to have!
Friends weren’t averse to snatching Walt’s camera and turning the lens on him. We believe this shot was taken in the early ‘40s, during a trip to Siena, Italy.
On July 28 1951, Walt and his family flew from London to Rome, registering at the Hotel Excelsior. During their Italian sojourn, they visited many cities, including Naples, Pompeii, Amalfi, Capri, Siena, Florence, and Venice.
