On Saturday, September 8, winds in the east brought D23 Gold Members to Disney Springs to celebrate Walt Disney’s beloved classic Mary Poppins on the big screen!
The practically perfect morning began with a special presentation by Disney Imagineer Doug Griffith! Doug’s presentation, “The Fundamentals of Audio-Animatronics® Animation,” focused on how Imagineers bring to life characters such as George Washington in The American Adventure and Duncan, the parrot from Miss Adventure Falls.
Following the presentation, D23 Gold Members and their guests sat back and returned to Cherry Tree Lane—many seeing the film for the first time on the big screen! It was especially magical to hear Disney fans throughout the theater “love to laugh” during beloved scenes and mouth the words to some of the most iconic Disney songs.
On the way out, all guests received a D23-exclusive pin: Mary Poppins’ carpet bag, with her lamp emerging from within!
The last event in our D23 Magical Screening Series for 2018 may have come to a close but we’re looking forward to Sip & Stroll, Destination D, and our Walt Disney World holiday celebration all taking place in Florida in the coming months.
