Our Favorite Disney Songs by Kristen Anderson-Lopez & Robert Lopez

By Cecilia Sarantopoulos

Nothing says “dynamic duo” quite like Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez do! This husband-and-wife songwriting team has created an impressive array of songs for Disney that continues to enchant audiences around the world. Whether you’re singing along to Elsa’s empowering anthem “Let it Go” from Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Frozen, or humming a certain mischievous tune of Marvel Television’s Agatha All Along, their work has become an integral part of Disney magic. Below is a curated list of some of their most iconic songs… and a little dive into why each one remains so unforgettable.

“The Ballad of the Witches’ Road” (Agatha All Along)

This spellbinding track captures Agatha’s (Kathryn Hahn) journey into the dark arts, describing how Agatha and her coven unlock the hidden gate and venture underground using elemental magic. The haunting chorus of “down, down, down” symbolizes both their descent and the dangers of the path, while the line “If one be gone, we carry on” warns of the deadly risks…

“Agatha All Along” (WandaVision)

“Agatha All Along” became an instant hit after its debut in Marvel Television’s WandaVision, with its catchy melody and fun, witchy lyrics that revealed the villain’s identity. Anderson-Lopez and Lopez brought their signature quirky style to this track—blending a retro sitcom theme with mischievous undertones. The song went viral in 2021 and earned a Primetime Emmy® Award for Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics, among other accolades.

“WandaVision!” (WandaVision)

In the world of WandaVision, this song is as playful as it is mysterious, setting the retro stage for Wanda’s ever-changing reality. Its homage to classic TV show themes showcases the Lopezes’ versatility as songwriters, cleverly blending nostalgia with an unsettling undertone that perfectly fits the show’s surreal atmosphere.

“Let It Go” (Frozen)

No Disney playlist would be complete without this powerhouse anthem. “Let It Go” became an instant classic the moment Elsa (voiced by Disney Legend Idina Menzel) let her icy powers fly free. Anderson-Lopez and Lopez channeled themes of self-empowerment and freedom into a song that still gives listeners chills—and maybe a newfound confidence to face their own inner storms. It won the Academy Award® for Best Original Song, a Grammy® Award for Best Song Written for Visual Media, a Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song, and many more distinctions!

“Do You Want to Build a Snowman?” (Frozen)

From the very first note, this adorable song draws you into the relationship between sisters Anna (voiced by Disney Legend Kristen Bell) and Elsa. It starts lighthearted and playful but deepens emotionally as the song progresses, reflecting the growing distance between the two characters. The Lopezes’ ability to convey both fun and sadness in one song is what makes this one unforgettable.

“Into the Unknown” (Frozen 2)

“Into the Unknown” is Frozen 2’s adventurous anthem, where Elsa confronts the mystery calling her. With a soaring melody and a powerful message about courage, this track takes listeners on an epic journey beyond the limits of fear and comfort. The Lopezes once again prove their ability to create thrilling, resonant music that pushes boundaries. It was nominated for an Academy Award, a Golden Globe Award, and a Grammy Award.

“Some Things Never Change” (Frozen 2)

This warm and upbeat ensemble song celebrates the comfort of familiar traditions amidst a world of constant change. With its nostalgic feel and endearing message, “Some Things Never Change” balances the unknown challenges that come with the passage of time, creating a moment of reflection in the film that feels both cozy and uplifting.

“Remember Me” (Coco)

This heartwarming, bittersweet ballad connects generations in Disney and Pixar’s Coco. Sung both as a lively tune and a tender lullaby, “Remember Me” beautifully underscores the importance of family and memory. Among other wins, “Remember Me” earned an Academy Award for Best Original Song, a Critics Choice Award, and was nominated for a Grammy and Golden Globe Award.

“Big Blue World” (Finding Nemo — The Musical / Finding Nemo: The Big Blue… and Beyond!)

Dive into the ocean with “Big Blue World,” a charming and vibrant song that captures the excitement of discovery in Finding Nemo — The Musical / Finding Nemo: The Big Blue… and Beyond! Its cheerful, expansive melody feels like a breath of fresh sea air, filled with optimism and wonder. The Lopezes bring the underwater world to life with music that’s as deep as the ocean itself. Guests can check out Finding Nemo: The Big Blue… and Beyond! live on stage at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

Exclusive Clip & Easter Eggs: Mickey’s Spooky Stories

By the D23 Team

Last Halloween, we all enjoyed the stop-motion shenanigans of Mickey Mouse and his pals in Mickey and Friends Trick or Treats. (Catch up or enjoy your first viewing now on Disney+!) For this haunted season, the creative team behind that madcap special is back with more ghoulish giggles in Mickey’s Spooky Stories.

This all-new collection of five stop-motion shorts features Mickey and the gang sharing Halloween stories around the campfire. These snappy, silly, slightly scary shorts are another collaboration between Disney and Stoopid Buddy Stoodios, and are directed by David H. Brooks (Mickey and Friends Trick or Treats, 2022’s Mickey Saves Christmas).

The shorts premiere on Tuesday, October 1, on Disney Jr., and all five shorts will be available on Disney+ on Wednesday, October 2. But we’ve got an exclusive clip right here to drop into your Halloween treat bag:

When you watch the full shorts on Disney Jr. or Disney+, be sure to pay close attention! The stories are full of Easter eggs. We won’t tell you which episodes to find them in—that would spoil the fun—but we’ll give you some clues about what to look for. The trick is to find them all!

Among the treats are:

  • A one-eyed carved pumpkin that resembles Mike Wazowski from Monsters, Inc. (2001).

In this scene from Mickey’s Spooky Stories, a close-up view of an open spell book shows the words Hocus Pocus at the top of a page. At the bottom of the page are the words Treats to Eat. In between are cartoon-like drawings of treats, a mummy, a trick-or-treat sack, and more. One of the little treat icons is shaped like Mickey’s head.

  • A hidden Mickey among the candy drawings in a spell book.
  • Spooky “faces” in the trees, similar to those in the haunted forest in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs(1937).

In this scene from Mickey’s Spooky Stories, the stop-motion puppet for Pete stands on a scooter in a pumpkin patch, just in front of a scary-looking tree. In the center of the handlebars for the scooter is a tiny metallic rendition of Mickey Mouse’s head and ears—a hidden Mickey.

  • Another hidden Mickey on Pete’s scooter handles.

In this scene from Mickey’s Spooky Stories, Mickey Mouse stands in his blue monster Halloween costume in what appears to be the library of a mansion. He is on the left of the image, and in the center is the frame of a full-length mirror, facing Mickey. Mickey has his body turned away from the mirror frame, and in the same position on the other side of the mirror frame is a green monster. The two characters are mirror images of one another.

And if you’re an I Love Lucy fan, look for an homage to the famous mirror scene between Lucille Ball and Harpo Marks from that great 1950s sitcom. Your grandparents can help with that one!

A promotional poster for Mickey’s Spooky Stories has the title of the show on the left, with the debut dates listed below: Disney Junior on October first and the next day on Disney Plus. On the right-hand side of the poster is an image of Mickey Mouse and his friends, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Daisy Duck, and Goofy—all in their Halloween costumes—in a pumpkin patch. A witch on a broomstick flies overhead in the distance, along with a lot of bats, and there’s a haunted house on a hill far in the back of the image.

“I think originally the draw was that it looked like everywhere in America. It looked like a hospital,” says Chandra Wilson, who plays Dr. Miranda Bailey. “People were drawn to these characters, and the stories were universal stories. And that’s the thing that hasn’t changed.”

In the video above, stars Wilson, Camilla Luddington (Dr. Jo Wilson), and Kim Raver (Dr. Teddy Altman) look back at some of their favorite storylines from the past 20 seasons of television’s longest-running prime-time medical drama—and tease what’s coming up next.

Agatha Harkness Has Just Joined Your Coven

In a scene from Agatha All Along, Agatha Harkness (Kathryn Hahn) wears a navy blue fitted suit over a collared white shirt, and a gold pendant necklace. Her hair is in an updo, and the background features the exterior of a house and its garden.

You’re drawn to power, and no one embodies it more than Agatha Harkness herself. With her cunning, dark magic, and commanding presence, your coven would thrive under her guidance. Beware though—she expects loyalty and strength from her allies, and anyone who falls short could become an enemy.
Teen Has Just Joined Your Coven

In a scene from Agatha All Along, Agatha Harkness (Kathryn Hahn) sits on a table opposite Teen (Joe Locke). His hands are laced on the table, Teen wears a gray sweater with a scrunched-up black mask around his neck, layered with a black zip-up cardigan. The background features the interior of a police station's interrogation room, with a file resting on the table.

With Teen now in your coven, a new air of intrigue envelops your circle. His mysterious presence adds depth and curiosity, creating a dynamic partnership. Teen’s fascination with Agatha’s magic makes him the perfect partner for your coven, where you two can learn and grow in power together.
Rio Vidal Has Just Joined Your Coven

In a scene from Agatha All Along, Rio Vidal (Aubrey Plaza) wears a black cloak and smoky-eye makeup, gazing at Agatha Harkness (Kathryn Hahn) while holding her hand. Rio has long brown hair and dark-painted fingernails. Agatha is dressed in a long-sleeve black robe adorned with colorful animals.

You’re fiery, intense, and full of passion, and Rio Vidal would bring an electrifying energy to your coven, ensuring things never stay boring for long. Edgy and stylish, you’re both about pushing boundaries and embracing the chaos, making it clear that anyone who dares to cross you wouldn’t want to become your enemy.

Alice Wu-Gulliver Has Just Joined Your Coven

In a scene from Agatha All Along, Alice Wu-Gulliver (Ali Ahn) speaks with Agatha Harkness (Kathryn Hahn). Alice gazes at Agatha pensively. She wears a gray T-shirt over a black long-sleeve top, her black hair featuring red highlights. Her look is completed with black eyeliner.

If protection and loyalty are what you value the most, Alice is the perfect fit for your coven. With her strong combat skills and dedication to confronting her past, she’ll ensure that your coven stays safe, no matter the danger.
Mrs. Hart Has Just Joined Your Coven

In a scene from Agatha All Along, Mrs. Hart (Debra Jo Rupp) wears a floral flowy top, a gold necklace, and a straw hat. She looks to her left with raised eyebrows, wearing red lipstick. The background shows shelves stocked with laundry detergent and cleaning supplies.

It seems like you prefer light-hearted fun with a touch of magic, making Mrs. Hart your ideal broom-mate. Her humorous and easygoing nature would make her the heart of your coven, whose lair she’d never leave without a fresh bouquet of flowers.
