Magic Journeys is a 3-D film that first appeared in the Journey Into Imagination pavilion at Epcot when the park opened in 1982. The film’s theme song was penned by the Sherman Brothers, who also wrote the theme song “One Little Spark” for the pavilion and “Makin’ Memories,” the song for the preshow to Magic Journeys. The surrealistic film allowed audiences to don 3-D glasses and “soar on the wings of imagination.” The film showcased dazzling 3-D effects with scenes that followed a child’s imagination—from soaring through the sky to plunging under the sea. After finding success at Disneyland in Anaheim, it was on this day in 1985 that the film went international at Tokyo Disneyland, bringing Japanese audiences through three-dimensional magic journeys.
