While every Disney Magic Kingdom-styled theme park has an Alice in Wonderland attraction, only Disneyland has an Alice-themed dark ride, which opened on this day in 1958. The attraction was originally planned to be part of Disneyland’s opening day festivities three years earlier, but those plans had to be abandoned because of budgeting issues. In 1983, as part of a refurbishment of Fantasyland, Alice in Wonderland was re-imagined, and Disney Legend Kathryn Beaumont, who voiced Alice in the film, lent her voice to the new narration. At that same time, the Mad Tea Party attraction was moved from the rear of Fantasyland to a location next to Alice in Wonderland.
