When Disneyland Park opened on July 17, 1955, the Ice Capades—which had licensed several Disney characters—provided Mickey, Donald, and several others the chance to frolic. These off-model costumes included a camel-like Pluto performed by a duo inside the costume marching in tandem down Main Street, U.S.A. in the Park’s inaugural parade.
