Ever the innovator, Walt Disney became the first major Hollywood producer to commit to a weekly television series for the new medium. Here, in a 1954 publicity photo after signing with the ABC Television Network, Walt poses for the ABC TV camera with some friends. On the resulting anthology series, entitled Disneyland, which debuted on October 27, 1954, Walt’s beloved characters occasionally appeared in all-new animation as well as in classic cartoons.
