The Moose Hunt

The Moose Hunt is Released

The 1931 short The Moose Hunt has very little dialogue, although one spoken word in particular plays an important part in Disney history. After Mickey Mouse thinks he’s accidentally shot his canine companion, he cries out through his tears the name Pluto for the first time. Unaware that his pal Pluto is feigning death, Mickey learns that it’s a hoax when Pluto looks up with a big smile and actually speaks the words “Kiss me!” Although Mickey meets a moose, he decides to flee rather than shoot and leaves with a valuable lesson: Never go hunting with a jokester pet. Although The Moose Hunt was released 80 years ago, it continues to bring smiles to the faces of audiences every day in the Main Street Cinema at Disneyland.
